Why You Should Eat What You Want and Skip the Gym This Thanksgiving
We all come up with reasons we should indulge on Thanksgiving with reckless abandon, but do you even need to worry about how much you eat or if you "earned" your calories with a workout?
According to a recent study, eating a high-calorie meal won't harm your health and can actually be beneficial for your fitness goals. The experts also agree that one meal won't even come close to the caloric catastrophe you're imagining. That Thursday workout can wait, too (unless you're Turkey Trotting!).

Thanksgiving Races Continue to See Growth
A holiday known for feasts, naps and football continues to be defined by running, as Thanksgiving Day
maintains its top spotas the sport's most popular day of the year to race, as a record 961,882 runners crossed a finish line in 2016.
Since tracking began in 2011, turkey trot finisher totals have significantly grown year-over-year. From 2015 to 2016, the number of Thanksgiving Day finishers grew 6%, once again eclipsing the 900,000 finisher barrier and coming ever so close to surpassing the magical one million finisher mark.
As the number of finishers grows, so to does the number of events hosted. Year-over-year growth of Thanksgiving Day races grew 14%, with 726 organized races taking place in 2016.

Navy Pier Flyover Project: Uninterrupted Travel Along Lakefront Trail in Sight
Here's some great news for runners and bikers who use Chicago's Lakefront Trail: when they can expect a fully-connected pedestrian bridge.
The finish line is finally in sight for the Navy Pier Flyover Project. The massive endeavor first broke ground more than three years ago.
"A year from now, we will have that completed. All 18 miles," the mayor said. When the Navy Pier Flyover Project is complete, it will be a safer alternative to one of the most heavily-used portions of Chicago's Lakefront Trail. There is still plenty of work to do. Until then, patience is a virtue.
