Principal's Message
January 20, 2017
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
Catholic Schools Week begins January 29. Across the country, Catholic communities will be recognized and commended around the United States. The National Catholic Education Association's theme this year is: "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service." Each day at OLQP, we will celebrate one aspect of our community. The line-up is:
Sunday*: We Celebrate Our Parishes- Guest speakers and information tables will be manned by OLQP families and supporters to get the word out: We are YOUR Catholic school!
*Open House at OLQP from 2-4. Help us recruit new families by bringing in prospective students for a tour.
Monday: We Celebrate Our Students- Students will participate in the "Religion Bowl" and be recognized for the many activities they participate in.
Tuesday: We Celebrate Our Families and Volunteers- Look for donuts at drop off and many expressions of "Thank you!" (Some may surprise you!)
Wednesday: We Celebrate Our Community and Our Nation- The day starts with morning prayer using the Patriotic Rosary. Cookies, thank you notes, and prayers will go to our local law enforcement.
Thursday*: We Celebrate Vocations and Our Priests- Students will see videos encouraging vocations and listen to guest speakers, Fr. Victor, Most Holy Trinity, and Deacon Forse, St. Michael's.

Did You Know?
National Jr. Honor Society
Each year, middle school candidates apply for membership in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School National Jr. Honor Society, St. Katharine Drexel Chapter. Seventh and eighth grade students are eligible for acceptance. The selection process is guided by the national organization. Students first qualify by GPA. Then, the written application is evaluated to ensure that the student demonstrates outstanding character, leadership, citizenship, and service. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities. Click here to learn about selection requirements and click here to learn about characteristic descriptions.

Camp Kappe Adventure
Each year the fifth grade class travels to the School of Environmental Education, also known as Camp Kappe, in Plantersville, Texas. The "sleep over" camp is a school without walls. The students will enjoy a  four-day outdoor experience of God's gift of nature while studying life cycles, food chains, the environment's effect on man, man's effect on the environment, conservation of resources, etc. It offers hands-on experience with farm animals and gardening along with many other exciting adventures in outdoor education. The students will be joined by other Catholic school students from the archdiocese. Program sponsors are Mrs. Martinez and Ms. Bane.  Click here to learn more.
News You Can Use...
