Principal's Message
January 6, 2017
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
Welcome back! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces return on Tuesday! There were many stories shared of wonderful family gatherings, special family trips and outings, as well as days of feasting and resting!
At morning prayer, I shared with the students a family tradition from the days of my childhood. My grandfather was an Irish immigrant and this was passed on through his family...We celebrated "big Christmas" on Christmas Day but also celebrated "little Christmas" on the Feast of Epiphany. We reflected on the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and related it to the season. The great feast of Christmas is too big for just one day. A little historical background was shared as well as the saints' feast days that fall within the twelve day period. To help make Epiphany more real to the students, the Three Wise Men are making their way through the school to Marian Hall where the manger and the Holy Family are already installed. They will receive a treat to commemorate "little Christmas."
At OLQP, the spirit of Christmas will be kept alive as we continue to journey, just as the Wise Men did, to seek the Lord. Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

Crossings is owned by long time OLQP supporter Claire Conboy.  Stop by and check out this amazing store.  It is located in the Arlan's Shopping Center located at 145 Oyster Creek Drive.
Steps for Students
Help Raise Funds and Awareness for Catholic Education! Steps for  Students 5K is an annual Archdiocesan-wide event that raises awareness of Catholic education and provides much needed funds for our Catholic Schools. All runners/walkers can register to be on the school team of their choice, or can walk independently for the Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program. Steps for Students is an opportunity for all members of the Faith community to work together to support education of mind, heart, and spirit in the many Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
If every Steps for Students participant raises only $40, we will raise over $500,000 for our Catholic schools!
