Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Being part of a Catholic school community is a blessing. Teachers get to really connect with students and help them on an individual basis. Christian character formation is a team effort with everyone coming from the same set of values and standards. There is a strong sense of Faith and family at OLQP.
Being part of a Catholic school community requires partnership: school, families, and community. Staff and families are dedicated to working together to bring every opportunity possible to students. Opportunities require funding. Each year, budgetary demands are funded through tuition, Fall Festival, donations, and grants. This year, the Fall Festival was postponed due to Hurricane Harvey. Many in our community lost their homes to flooding. Some lost their businesses as well. As a community, it was the time to reach out and help friends, neighbors, and family rebuild.
If your family is still working to put things back in order, we understand. Just like in a family, those of us who are able will do a bit more. We are asking all of our families and the community to come together to help us make this important fundraising effort a success. This year, we are hosting events to appeal to everyone. The weekend will kick off on:
- Friday, February 2, with a Grandparents Luncheon
Grandparents are invited to RSVP for lunch, visit the grandchildren and their classes, and make a donation to purchase their grandchild's artwork.
- Saturday, February 3, Mardi Gras Gala
This event is an adult event with dinner, dance, and auction. We are encouraging our "of age" alumni to attend as well as all of our friends and families, past and present, and community supporters.
- Sunday, February 4, Mardi Gras Festival
This is a family day that will include BBQ, sweets booth, activities for the children, live and silent auction, as well at the raffle.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
