Children's entertainment center Chuck E. Cheese's is looking to make its offering more accessible to kids with autism and other special needs.
The restaurant chain says it is introducing "Sensory Sensitive Sundays," a monthly event designed to provide a sensory-friendly environment.
During the two-hour offerings for families of those with special needs, participating Chuck E. Cheese's will dim their lights, have smaller crowds, limit costumed characters and refrain from playing music or having other shows.

1 in 5 Young People Lose Sleep Over Social Media

1 in 5 young people regularly wake up in the night to send or check messages on social media, according to new research published in the Journal of Youth Studies. This night-time activity is making teenagers three times more likely to feel constantly tired at school than their peers who do not log on at night, and could be affecting their happiness and wellbeing.

Kids with ASD Face Numerous Challenges During Early School Years

New research suggests young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are less likely to develop positive relationships with their teachers than typically developing kids do.
The finding is important because for many, a particular teacher provided a positive lasting influence during the early school years - a factor that often enhanced growth and development both academically and personally.

$12 Million Community Planned For Young Adults With Autism

A Texas couple is planning to construct a $12 million community for people with autism on nearly 29 acres of land that was formerly a polo ranch in the Denton County town of Cross Roads.
It will include 15 homes, a community center and access to a 'transitional academy' that is designed to help young adults with autism develop the skills needed to live and work independently.

Despite increased demand for counseling centers on college campuses, students aren't necessarily getting sicker. Instead, it's likely student mental health needs across the country have increased due to national prevention and awareness efforts over the past decade. "The results we are seeing are the outcomes we would expect to see from suicide prevention efforts over the last decade," said Ben Locke, executive director of the Center for Collegiate Mental Health at Penn State.

It seems this week the snow was falling across the entire nation. Snow in Tennessee, Oregon, and Louisiana. Everywhere, except right here in New Hampshire. It has been bitter cold, though and we have a lovely base of white to play in. I just love the snow! I love how clean everything looks with a fresh coat of white. I especially, love a snow day (who doesn't?). After all the reds and greens of December, the visual and auditory overload, I relish the white, stillness of a snowfall.
