Happy New Year!

The American Farm Bureau is getting ready for Annual Convention this weekend  - one big event that is happening is that the final four teams of the Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge are competing in the final round.

I wanted to remind everyone that Alaska has one of the final four teams! Find out more below about watching the competition live and voting for People's Choice. Voting opens at 4:00 pm today! There is no limit on the number of times you can vote.

Also, we're coming up on the 2nd Annual Alaska Grown Reception hosted by the Governor! The date has been set for February 16th - the menu planning is coming along nicely, but we're still looking for items that can be served during the reception - if you have a good hors d'oeuvre style food item (smoked turkey/chicken, pickles, etc.) that you would like to get to Juneau, get ahold of Bernie Karl; [email protected].

We also need small items to go in the gift bags for Governor, Lt. Governor and Legislators (62 bags).  Last year we had things like jam, honey, barley cereal, Rhodiola tea, soap, candies and more.

If you do have an item for the gift bag make sure your logo is on the item, or if you have something being served during the reception, include a logo we can display during the reception! We want everyone to know where the food comes from!

Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge

Watch the Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge Live!

AFBF will be live-streaming the Challenge competition in Phoenix on Sunday, January 8 -9:00 am Alaska Time. The video will be streamed at http://www.strongruralamerica.com/challenge/

After the event, video of the Challenge competition will be posted to the website.

These four teams will be competing for Entrepreneur of the Year which comes with a $15,000 prize and People's Choice with a $10,000 prize.

Each team will be allowed 4 minutes to give their pitch, then answer questions from the judges. The judges will select Entrepreneur of the Year, but the public votes for People's Choice award.

A link will appear here for online voting. You can vote starting today, January 6th at 4:00 pm Alaska Time until Sunday January 8th, 4:00 pm Alaska time. There is no limit to how many times a person can vote.

Be sure and vote for Alaska's team!
