Langmaids Island Update
Langmaids Development Corp held an Open House on Saturday December 2 in Baysville, to present a  preliminary lot creation plan for Langmaid's Island. The Open House was well attended by almost 90 people, including representatives from LOBA, the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation (LBHF), Township councillors, District and local planners as well as the owners and their planners. 
  
LOBA and LBHF have been engaged in discussions with Langmaids Island Corp through participation at a workshop on October 24th, and ongoing discussions regarding the natural heritage designation of the island and possible opportunities for land conservation.

Haystack Bay Marina Proposed Expansion
On Tuesday December 12 at 9:00am, the Township of Lake of Bays Planning Committee will be discussing an application to expand Haystack Bay Marina. You can see the agenda for the meeting and read the application, supporting documents and staff report under item

by clicking here. The Port Cunnington Rate Payers Association (PCRA) has been following this proposed expansion closely, and you can read their most recent update  here.
Fairview Island Update
The planner and lawyer for the owners of Fairview Island, have submitted a new Planning Justification Report, and Clarification of Use and Character and Compatibility Analysis, both of which are available on the Town of Huntsville website by clicking here. This proposal will NOT be discussed at the December 13 Town of Huntsville Planning Committee meeting. 

LOBA provided written comments to the Town of Huntsville on November 20, which you can read here. You can read our letter of June 26, 2017 here. We continue to monitor this development proposal.
Resorts Development in the District of Muskoka Official Plan
As we reported previously, LOBA has commented on the second draft of the District of Muskoka Official Plan, and also made comments at the November 23 public meeting.  To read LOBA's comments,  click here .

The group SaveMuskoka.ca is particularly concerned with proposed changes to Resort Developments in the Official Plan, and is asking concerned citizens to sign a petition and write a letter or email. Check their website for details.

LOBA has been commenting on this issue since 2013. You can read our May 2013 and January 2017 letters for our comments.

Open to all Lake of Bays Association members and families for submission in the categories below. Photos must be previously unpublished and submitted - one per individual, per category - in digital format to Aben Graphics; info@abengraphics.com before  December 15, 2017 . Subject line of the email, Lake of Bays 2017 Photo Contest. Contestants agree to the use of their photos for the Lake of Bays Association yearbook, newsletter, website  and social media sites.
