Greetings,
We hope you will enjoy this issue of our weekly e-newsletter. Each week we'll keep you informed on what's happening here at St. Matthew's Cathedral - news from the week, what's coming up, and how  you  can be a part of it. This should reach your inbox by Friday giving you a heads up for the  upcoming  week. We hope this helps you plan your week, and maybe even provides a little inspiration to get you through it! Be sure to "Like" us on Facebook  to stay in the know between emails.

A Message from the Dean...

"Ain't He Beautiful?"

You never know. You know what I mean? You never know if what you say or do will have an impact on someone. Two people can see the same thing and come to different conclusions. The Wise Men saw the star in the east and it pointed them to the Messiah. Herod looked up and saw the same star and saw nothing significant.
Here's one of my favorite scenes from "All in the Family." It is a conversation between Archie Bunker and his wife Edith when Edith introduced Archie to her long-ago friend Buck.
Edith: Oh, Buck! How'd you recognize me? I'd know you anywhere.
Buck: Your eyes. Your eyes are just the same. I can still see right  inside you.
Edith: See, Archie? Ain't he beautiful?
Archie: Uh, nice to meet your acquaintanceship there. Can I just take my wife over here for a minute? We'll see you, huh? Edith, Edith. I will never be able to figure you out. You and me, we look at the same guy, and you see a beautiful person. I see a blimp.
Edith: Yeah. Ain't that too bad? But, then, you're beautiful too.
God is always speaking to us, trying to get our attention. We, however, are not always aware of God's presence around us. Edith saw in Buck someone beautiful. Archie saw in Buck a blimp. May God open our eyes to see!
