First Friday Art Night

Downtown Tuscaloosa

First Friday takes place on the first Friday of the month in downtown Tuscaloosa. Local galleries, businesses and restaurants are open in the evening for the community to experience what downtown Tuscaloosa has to offer. First Friday occurs monthly with the exception of holidays. Event hours vary among the locations and are listed on the site.

The University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History is pleased to present the exhibition  We are Selma: The Selma Portrait Project by Kathryn Mayo, August 24-September 29, 2017, in the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art. The exhibition beautifully reflects each sitter and his or her attachment to the city with such a storied history.

Homegrown Alabama Farmers Market

Homegrown Alabama is the UA student-run farmers market held each Thursday from 3-6 pm at Canterbury Chapel, near campus. Support UA students and local farmers as they bring you the best of what Alabama has to offer.

Engage UA with Crossroads!

UA’s Crossroads Community Engagement Center is an initiative of the Division of Community Affairs. Crossroads fosters effective intercultural engagement for students, faculty and staff, and community members throughout the state by facilitating: 

  • workshops on inclusive engagement practices.

  • dialogues where participants are invited to share their perspectives on challenging social issues in a respectful, inclusive environment.

  • collaborative programming to encourage appreciation of the rich cultural traditions on campus and in the local community.
