Over 30 faculty, counselors, staff, and administrators met to address the challenge of adult students transitioning between adult schools, and from adult schools to college. During this one day workshop, participants were introduced to the goal of the project, received background information on the skills gap in California, and why successful transitioning is so important for students throughout the entire state.

AEBG Field Team Updates
The AEBG Office established three field teams - the Data and Accountability Committee, the CTE Assessment Committee and the AEB/ASE/ESL Committee - to develop recommendations related to adult education data tracking, definitions, assessment and accountability reporting.  Their recommendations were used in developing a policy paper that currently is being finalized for submission to the legislature.

AEBG - Renewed Advocacy More Critical Than Ever!
Heading into year three of the Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG), adult schools and community colleges continue to make strides in collaborating and serving adult students in need for basic skills, ESL, citizenship, short term career training, and more. Unfortunately, AEBG is not being sufficiently conveyed to the Legislature at the local level.

To assist in efforts to promote adult education, CCAE and CAEAA have put together an advocacy plan for FY 17-18 that will help pave the pathway for further investment in AEBG.

Please click here for specific information on how your adult school can join in the efforts to promote AEBG to the Legislature.

Adult Education National Public Awareness Campaign
The Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) and the National Council of State Directors of Adult Education (NCSDAE) are launching a national public awareness campaign to educate legislators on the value of adult education.  Over 55,000 adult education leaders stand united in a national campaign to education policymakers about the importance of investing in adult education and moving opportunities forward for all Americans to achieve economic mobility.

Free webinars, fact sheets, and a variety of tools are available.
