First-Time Homebuyers Program

This program focuses on the first-time home buyer understanding of home ownership responsibilities and financial obligation.  Prospective home-buyers attend a one-day seminar taught by a certified instructor.  Upon completing the course, the home-buyer presents his/her certificate of completion to a mortgage company demonstrating his/her elevated understanding of homeownership. The certificate of completion also allows the prospective home-buyer to receive down payment assistance and a low interest THDA loan through the mortgage company.

  • First-time homebuyers
  • Borrowers who need homebuyer education certificates to qualify for a loan
  • Individuals looking to become more educated about homeownership
  • Homebuyers working with local housing counselors

Grant  Announcements

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) is now accepting applications for recycling and waste reduction grants totaling $4,500,000.
Grant funding can be used toward purchasing recycling equipment, recycling rebates, the management of used oil/automotive fluids, convenience centers, education and outreach, and recycling measurement. All grants will support local governments' efforts toward achieving their waste reduction and recycling goals. The application process is open until Oct. 2, 2017.

Greening of Arkansas Grant Program 

The Arkansas Flower & Garden Show is dedicated to improving the lives of Arkansans by providing funding for community beautification projects through the Greening of Arkansas grant program.
  • The Greening of Arkansas grant program fund communities to beautify public areas such as parks, community entrances, and schools.
  • Grants are awarded to non-profit and civic groups for beautification projects on public land.
  • Grant amounts are up to $2500, and 50% of the funds must be used for plant material (trees, shrubs, and flowers.)
  • The deadline to apply is October 3, 2017

Transportation 

Tennessee Department of Transportation State Aid & Bridge Program

The State Aid Program provides funds to county governments for the improvement or rehabilitation of roads on the State Aid System. Types of qualifying work include the planning, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, grading, drainage, bridge construction, and pavement upgrades or rehabilitation. State Aid System is calculated on a county by county basis. The State Aid System may comprise no more than 20% of the total road miles located within a specific county.
