Spirit Week is Here!
Let's have a great final week leading up to Winter Break!  The more you promote this and get your sons and daughters excited about our designated days, the greater participation we will have.  

Monday, December 12th, 2016 - Pajama Day, dress up in your pajamas.  We are looking for 2 best dressed student winners and 2 staff winners.  Prizes will be awarded.

Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 - Career Day, dress up in how you see yourself in a future career.

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 - Emoji Day, dress up as your favorite emoji, any kind of yellow and/or facial expression. Get creative. Kids tell me there are kits at Michael's to make your favorite emoji out of yellow pom-poms.

Thursday, December 15th, 2016 - Crazy Hair Day - We are looking for the 2 craziest hair styles on students and 2 staff members, with prizes and acknowledgment for your creativity and craziness.

Friday, December 16th, 2016 - NFL Team Day, not just a Seahawks jersey day, but even your favorite NFL Team - jersey, t-shirt, hat, spirit wear.
PTA General Membership Meeting: December 14th

Come join us for the December General Membership PTA meeting.  Hear what new things are happening, participate in member votes, and have your voice heard.  We will be discussing important issues coming up in the new year, and urge you to stay involved and dedicated to our  PTA Missions and Goals.  

Additionally Sra. Lee will be speaking about the techniques and information she gathered at the Positive and Productive Behavior Management Conference she attended this past fall.  Please contact the VP's of Communication and Membership  if you have any questions regarding the upcoming meeting.  We hope you can make it!
Passport Club Corner: December 16th
Friday, December 16th from 9:30-11:30am in the school library
 
The final  Passport Club Check Day of 2016. If you would like to volunteer, please contact passportvolunteer@puestadelsolpta.org .
 
Fun Fact: Did you know that in Switzerland they have four official languages -  German, French, Italian and Romansh.  And of all the mountains in Switzerland, 48 of them are 4,000 meters (13,000 ft) above sea level or higher.  (The summit elevation of Mt Rainier is 4,392 meters (14,411 ft) above sea level.)
 
December's   Special Itinerary (SI) is Iceland! Check out the SI bulletin boards in the cafeteria each month for great visual displays which contain the answers to the activities and copies of the SI.  At each monthly Check Day, there will be a small prize for completing SI projects.

The yearbook chairs are building pages for events listed below, and hope you will share your BEST photos! We welcome you to send up to 5 images to yearbook@puestadelsolpta.org . If you have more to share, please email us for further directions.

SCRATCH Code Club - Winter Session Begins!
What: Puesta del Sol Code Club  "Code with SCRATCH" (beginner - advanced)
Dates: THURSDAYS, Jan 12 - Mar 9 (8 weeks, no class Feb 23) Time:  3:30pm - 5:00pm (1.5 hrs)
Where: Puesta del Sol Library 
Who: Grades 3 - 5

In TechVenture Kids' Code with SCRATCH Code Club, kids explore how to design and program their own computer games and animations.

Working in MIT's SCRATCH 2.0 visual drag and drop programming environment. Students engage in fun coding projects and are encouraged to collaborate and present their projects to others. Projects and Instruction for all levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced! Student min: 12, max: 20. We provide the laptops.

Bellevue Magic Season Ice Arena
Join us in celebrating the "Magic Season" with ice skating in downtown Bellevue!  Mention you are with Puesta del Sol Elementary and a $3 donation will be made to the PTA for each paid rink admission during the following dates:

A Chance to Dance presents The Hope Show - January 13th, 2017 at 7pm
You may see some familiar faces from Puesta del Sol!
In its 10th year, the Hope Show at the Theatre at Meydenbauer Center will be an enchanted evening of dance performances featuring The Premiere Dance Center Performance Company, All funds raised by The Hope Show will help "A Chance to Dance Scholarship Foundation" dance scholarships give youth in our community the opportunity to explore the joy of dance. Purchase tickets now!


Panthers Youth Rugby Club  invites 1st to 8th graders to the club's "Try-Rugby" events this December and January:
Join the Panthers Youth Rugby Club at Grass Lawn Park in Redmond on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, and at Highland Middle School in Bellevue on Saturdays at 10am.
 
Discover Rugby, meet our coaches - all certified level 200 with Rugby WA and USA, and make friends for life.  There is no rugby during Winter Break.
