It has been an eventful few weeks here at the Dufferin Board of Trade (DBOT), with the Play Local Golf Tournament organizing in full swing, the upcoming Town Hall Meeting on Bill 148, and the Business Excellence Award nominations! 

Our Think Local campaign has been highlighting our members through the Think Local story initiative which showcases the high caliber of business we have in our region. Be sure to read through the Think Local stories on our website and follow our social media to see how businesses in your community are Thinking Local!


DBOT has also been actively working in continuing support of the Dufferin County Economic Development Plan, which was recently approved by County Council. 

If you haven't had a chance to register for the Play Local Golf Tournament I encourage you to do so. This annual member favorite promises a day full of fun, networking, and friendly competition. The silent auction benefitting Headwdaters Health Care Foundation is an excellent way to get behind a great cause right here in our community.

Dufferin Board of Trade Announces the 2017 Business Excellence Award Nominees
 
The Dufferin Board of Trade is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2017 Business Excellence Awards recognizing outstanding businesses, individuals, and organizations in Dufferin County.
 
Pete Renshaw, Chair of the Dufferin Board of Trade stated "For many years the Business Excellence Awards have showcased the best of Dufferin County's business community. The remarkable organizations and individuals that were nominated by the community truly represent what it means to think local. I extend my sincerest congratulations to all the nominees". 


The Dufferin Board of Trade will be sharing the nominee submissions with business and community organizations from across the province, who will judge the nominees against the award criteria and select a recipient for each award.
 
The 2017 Business Excellence Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Mono Community Centre. The evening gala celebration includes the Chairman's reception, live music, a three course dinner, and the presentation of the awards.
 
Sponsorship opportunities are available for this annual celebration of business excellence.

Bill 148 - Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act

The Dufferin Board of Trade continues to work to represent the voice of business in Dufferin County this week hosting the Town Hall Meeting on Bill 148 on Tuesday August 8th. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Karl Baldauf,Vice President, Policy & Government Relations with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and Sylvia Jones MPP Dufferin - Caledon, to learn how the changes to Ontario's employment and labour laws will impact business and how the chamber  network is standing up for business. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions to gain insight and provide input.

Registration for the meeting is now closed however for those unable to attend the meeting, the slide deck and video of the presentations will be available on the Dufferin Board of Trade website for viewing following the meeting.

Peel Halton Dufferin Acquired Brain Injury Services (PHD ABIS) is a non-profit charitable organization that provides community based rehabilitation and life-long support for adults whose lives have been touched by acquired brain injury.

PHD ABIS provides a comprehensive range of supports individuals (16+) who have either sustained an acquired brain injury or caregivers/ family members requiring access to counselling for coping strategies, peer support, and education. We provide service to residents in the regions of Peel, Halton and Dufferin.
