Business in Medicine Lecture Series

With its innovative Business in Medicine lecture series, the College of Medicine, along with the College of Business and leaders in medicine and health policy, the College is providing students with a real-world look at the structure of our healthcare system.

Made possible by a generous donation from Dr. Phyllis Gladstein, D.Ed., an FAU Foundation Board member and Edith B Jackson Professor of Child Development at the Yale Child Study Center, retired Faculty of the Western New England institute of Psychoanalysis.  T he series kicked off in October with a well-received overview of the topic by Dr. Robert Colton, a South Florida based physician-entrepreneur. Dr. Colton also gave the excellent November lecture on physician reimbursement.

The next lecture in the series is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27.  Dr. Randall Taubman of the Glades Medical Group will speak on "How We Measure and Improve Quality." The talk is expected to cover the idea of moral hazard, medical necessity, and the concept of quality measures. Future speakers will include the director of the MD/MBA program at Yale University and a former Congressman and current healthcare executive.
