Dear Friends and Neighbors:

So far, the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund ("HHRF"), run jointly by the City of Houston and Harris County, has raised approximately $79 million.  The first $7.55 million of these funds was recently disbursed to 28 non-profit organizations.  Below is a summary of the organizations that received this grant funding, the amount they received, and how they will use the money.

District G residents are invited to call or visit any of these organizations if they desire the kinds of services/funding being offered. For this first round of grant funding, there is no central application process and no specific criteria for qualification.  If you are interested in receiving aid you must contact each organization directly. The HHRF's advisory board is working with the Greater Houston Community Foundation to develop specific criteria and an application process for future rounds of grant funding. This will be established through an open request-for-proposals process which is currently underway.

In approximately 90 days, each of these organizations will be reviewed to see how they disbursed their funds.  For subsequent rounds of funding, HHRF's board co-chairs have appointed a grants committee composed of experts in grant-making and disaster recovery along with philanthropic leaders from across the community. The grants committee will use its expertise to review the applications and offer funding recommendations to the advisory board for approval.
