Principal's Message
December 2, 2016
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
As the calendar year is winding down, everyone at OLQP is still moving forward at full speed! The students are busy learning and sharing their knowledge with each other. This week, students throughout the school filled the halls with figures and luminaries from different historical periods. This curriculum-driven, project based learning event was focused on social studies. The day started with a "parade" of students sharing "who they were" with the student body. As the day progressed, students gave their reports in their classmates. Students presented to other classes as well. Famous athletes, Presidents, and First Ladies filled the halls. The middle school students used a living museum concept to share their learning. Lower elementary classes walked through the "museum" and were greeted by figures such as Aristotle, Albert Einstein, Howard Hughes, Dr. Michael DeBakey, Buddy Holly, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, and more. It was wonderful to see the older students teaching the younger students. Learning is alive and well at OLQP.
We are sharing the message of Advent with the students. At prayer, a special Advent meditation is prayed each morning. The students are also praying the beautiful St. Andrew's Novena. As the excitement of the Christmas season builds, at OLQP, we are reminding our students to keep "Christ" in Christmas. Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of OLQP.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

News You Can Use...
What is "Sunday Best?"
When I was a child, we dressed up for Mass. Everyone polished their shoes on Saturday. Girls wore dresses and boys wore suits. I can even remember my mother wearing a hat and gloves. Things have changed a lot since then - whether good or bad, I would not say! However, it does cause a little confusion when we talk to students about wearing their "Sunday best" to the Christmas program!
The K- 8 Christmas Program is on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. The Pre-K program is on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 p.m. Students are asked to wear their "best." A stand-alone constant contact will be provided with more details! Thank you for your consideration.
