EAI August News & Updates
Elephant Appreciation Day is September 22
Help EAI Finish the Fence
documentary on elephants in Asia

Here at Elephant Aid International (EAI), we think every day should be Elephant Appreciation Day and that's why we're building Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA) - a safe place where elephants can recover from past trauma and develop healthy bonds with caregivers and other elephants.

Please consider contributing to the Finish the Fence project in honor of this special day. The sooner we build the fence, the closer ERNA will be to opening this elephant paradise to occupants!

One of the activities we have planned for Elephant Appreciation Day is a screening of the documentary UNCHAINED, which follows the work of Carol Buckley and EAI to enhance captive elephant welfare in Nepal. Join Carol for a live Q&A after the show at The Quincy Music Theatre in Quincy, Florida, on September 22. Tickets will go on sale online and donations can be made at the door. All proceeds will go to EAI.

Can't meet us in Quincy? Join the effort and help us spread the word about the Finish the Fence project. Thank you for your time and support!

Nepal's Chain Gang Elephants Closer to Living Unchained

EAI signed the long-awaited Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nepal's Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. This prestigious, formal agreement will further EAI's projects in Nepal, which include elephant foot care, mahout training and our Chain Free Means Pain Free project.

Our first effort under the new MoU will be the The Lambodhar Prasad Project: Freeing Nepal's Chain Gang, creating chain-free options for bull elephants held in chains in Chitwan National Park. Our sincerest appreciation goes to Nepal's Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Director General, Man Bahadur Khadka, and Chief Conservation Officer, Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, Kamal Jung Kunwar, for their endless efforts and serious approach to elephant welfare.
Update from Last Month's Wish List Pick

Thanks to everyone who assisted with last month's Wish List Pick! Because of your generosity, we were able to purchase the front-end loader for the tractor and begin removing old fence posts that crisscross the property, clearing the way for 29,000 feet of elephant fence.

Welcome Carol Erickson, Development Consultant

We are pleased to welcome Carol Erickson as EAI's new development consultant. Ms. Erickson has dedicated her professional career to international development, philanthropy and nonprofit organizations working in a variety of fields to benefit society. She will help build and expand fundraising efforts and donor support programs to ensure a strong future for EAI. A big shout-out goes to The Nature Defense Foundation for its underwriting of Ms. Erickson's services.
Thank you for your continued commitment to elephants and to EAI.
We appreciate you, and recognize that without your help, this work would not be possible.
