We hope you'll enjoy the the new look of our monthly e-news. Why the change?  Changing the format helps those viewing on mobile devices have a better experience, while still allowing for viewing on a traditional computer. Thanks for your patience while we work it all out. We may go through a few minor "detail changes" before it's a'll said and done. We appreciate your feedback.

News from CRC

Dear Friends,

In June, Tim and I took a mini vacation to Victoria B.C. to see the Butchart Gardens and we fell  utterly in love with the amazing fragrances of the Jennie Butchart rose from Canada 1975 and the Hansa from Holland 1905. Roses came in an array of colors from lavender, coral, champagne, crimson, goldenrod, and fuchsia. We spent 9 hours enjoying the beauty of God's creation and just now it is reminding me of our home here at CRC with our colorful banners resounding HOLY, HOLY, HOLY Lord God Almighty as you drive up the gravel road with its foxglove and daisies greeting you with their warmth, along with all of the other bouquet of BLESSINGS that God is pouring out:

Front Row: Josiah, Peter, Bryan (with Ellie)

  • Awesome Summer Staff arriving and bringing LIFE to us and  ZEAL for GOD!
  • Paul Hawkins teaching at our first week of Summer Camp on cultivating an ongoing intimate relationship with God through two way communication of sharing your heart and listening to His.
  • Long time friend, Betty Coll (pictured below with Eunice), is here volunteering for the summer and is keeping everything GREEN for us!
  • We added a new, blue paddle boat to our pond that Bryan Rutschman and Josiah Hansen have worked hard to rid of duck weed.
  • Several on staff also volunteered to help out with VBS for our local 'Chapel in the Hills' church, which was a rich time of teaching God's Word.
  • We are also in the process of digging ditches in order to add a washer and dryer to the Main Lodge
  • Adding a new staff team member,  Kim Hove, who is now our Food Service Director. She came to us quite suddenly, just as the door opened. God answered our prayer before we barely had time to ask. He knows our needs!

Prayer Points:
  • CRC's Koinonia Bible School. We are asking God for 12 students. If your church is open to us sharing briefly with your Youth Group or Congregation about the opportunity, feel free to contact us. Also, if you would like to give money toward a scholarship for students please let us know.
  • Mark and Tami Kinslow. They have moved to Wyoming to help on the ranch with Mark's Dad. The Kinslows came over a year ago to stand in for us while we were on sabbatical and to help fill for the Riegelmanns as they were going through their daughter Rianna's treatments (she is doing splendid by the way). What a help they have been! I will never forget Mark dressing up as Superman at our staff Harvest Party or our many theological debates or Tami playing violin at our retreats and making Frog Pudding.
  •  Betty Thomas. She will be moving away from CRC and going forward in what God has for her in this new season coming mid-August. She has worn many hats while here: Registrar, Retreat Coordinator, and table setter. Her sense of humor and smile will be missed as she goes to be a blessing with family, especially to little grandson Remington.
  •  Summer Family Camp. We still have three camps to look forward to: Kim Meeder coming August 4-6th with Darrell and Sherri Beebe following on August 7-12th for a full week and then Labor Day Weekend on September 1-4th with Pastor Dee Duke. We still have some spots open if you want to catch this incredible opportunity to be encouraged and grow in your faith!

We anticipate lots of fantastic things in the future as it has already been an incredible summer! God is watching over us and I know that He is watching over you. His eye is on the sparrow.

Blessings to you and your family as you continue to enjoy your summer,
Tim and Julie Hansen

Summer Family Camps

Summer camp is one of our favorite times of year here at CRC and it is open to adult singles, married couples and families. What a wonderful way to get away as scrumptious meals are provided and classes are offered from nursery to teens during the adult session.
Come and enjoy a time set a part to seek the Lord and hear from some great speakers. Be refreshed as you hike the Falls, sit in the sun, or browse the Lamppost Books and Espresso. We encourage Godly fellowship around the table and times of prayer in one of our beautiful prayer chapels. Or if you are up for an adventure, ride one of our rope swings or whiz by in the trees on our zip line. We also have archery and mountain golf!

WEEK 3 with Kim Meeder
August 4th-6th (this is a special weekend-only event)

Kim Meeder's life was torn apart at the early age of nine by her parents' murder-suicide. She has since chosen to rise above the pain and become a powerful influence in the lives of many disadvantaged youth. On the day of her parents' funeral, Kim experienced the special emotional comfort a horse could provide. This healing refuge became the foundation for all that was to follow. Through the love of a little mare and a merciful God, Kim's life was saved.

In 1995, Kim and her husband
Troy made the decision to transform their 9-acre cinder quarry into a ranch for kids.   Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch (CPYR) was born. This unique non-profit organization rescues abused and neglected horses and nurtures them back to health. These same horses are then used in the ranch's riding program for children. Approximately 85% of the children who come to CPYR are disadvantaged in some way. The ranch focuses on individual instruction for each participant with one leader, one child and one horse...free of charge.
Kim is a published author of several nationwide received books, including: Hope Rising, Bridge Called Hope, Blind Hope, and Beauty. She has interviewed for magazines, radio, and television with groups such as, Focus on the Family, Family Talk Radio, and Recording Artist. She has been endorsed by Dr. James Dobson, Dr. Julie Slattery, Meredith Andrews, and Oregon State Senator, Chris Telfer. Kim Meeder is an accomplished speaker and has addressed audiences across the country from churches and book clubs to U.S. Government policy councils and a portion of the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C. In addition to her writing, speaking and duties at CPYR, Kim is also a gifted athlete. She competed on a national level in Nordic ski racing and participated in the U.S. Olympic biathlon trials. She has also set two world records in power lifting. Kim has climbed many of the highest peaks in Oregon, Washington and California. One of her newest interests is surfing. If the sport will take Kim into the great outdoors, you will probably find her there!

WEEK 4 with Darrell and Sherri Beebe
August 7th-12th
Darrell and Sherri have been married 44 years and have two grown children and six grandchildren. They currently live at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Darrell grew up in Forks, Washington and felt a call to ministry and missions in his early teens. He graduated from Northwest University in 1975. Darrell holds credentials with the Assemblies of God and has been ordained since 1978.
Sherri grew up in Vancouver, Washington and sensed God's call to mission's service. She also holds credentials with the Assemblies of God and was ordained in 2012. Darrell and Sherri met at Northwest University in 1971, and married in 1972. They began youth ministry in 1973 serving in Lake Stevens, Issaquah and Port Orchard. They took their first pastorate in 1978 in Vader, Washington. In 1984 they left for the Solomon Islands as foreign missionaries. They have served in the Solomon Islands, Palau, and Japan. Since returning to the states they have pastored in Port Angeles and Mossyrock, Washington.
Darrell and Sherri have continued to reach out to people around the world and have preached and taught in 21 countries. The Beebes are warm, engaging communicators. Their unique style of 'tag team' preaching holds the attention of young and more mature listeners alike. They will be sharing "seven practical steps for spiritual growth". Come prepared to be challenged in your walk of faith.

Labor Day Weekend Retreat
With Pastor Dee Duke
September 1st-4th, 2017

Register now and don't miss out on this ever packed-out CRC Sponsored Retreat!

Pastor Dee Duke has spoken several times at CRC and we just can't get enough of his encouraging and challenging messages! We love listening to this man of God so much that we couldn't settle for hearing him just once this year at our  Men's Retreat this past March.
This retreat will give the ladies the opportunity to be blessed by him as well!

Pastor Duke grew up in the Northwest and graduated from Corban University in Salem, Oregon. He has earned a Master's Degree and an honorary doctorate. Dee came to the small rural community of Jefferson, OR 32 years ago to pastor Jefferson Baptist Church. At that time about 25 people were meeting in the local City Hall. Today, the church has an average attendance of 900 people in three weekend services and has three daughter churches.

Pastor Dee attributes the growth of the church to its emphasis on prayer. In 1989 he attended his first Pastors' Prayer Summit and has since modeled and preached the importance of individual and corporate prayer. He has authored a book entitled Prayer Quest and magazine articles for Moody Monthly, Leadership Journal and Pray! He also has a daily radio program.

Join us for three nights/four days and come be refreshed and recharged in God's love. You'll enjoy this inter-generational retreat that is sure to encourage you and recharge your batteries as you will hear an inspirational speaker, eat scrumptious meals, and have fun hiking the Silver Falls, riding our zip line, and joining us at the Lamppost for a good book, espresso, or special treat

Personal Retreats
Come away and seek the Lord!

Did you know that CRC offers Personal Retreats?  Personal Retreats are available for individuals and families looking for an environment that fosters personal communion with Jesus.  Pray and read the scriptures in our chapels, walk our grounds, enjoy solitude and quiet. You can join us for any or all of the meals we are serving, or fast and pray. These retreats are offered year-round on a donation basis as space permits.

If you are looking for quiet, you will find plenty of that during the weekdays, especially in the fall, winter, and spring. If you enjoy lots of company and sharing meals in our Main Lodge, check to see if there is space available on a weekend.

While you're at CRC, make sure to visit The Lamppost. It's such a joy to see guests share and laugh over a latte, pray together, or just peruse the bookstore. We look forward to seeing you here during your next stay.
