Lake Houston Economic Development Partnership to 
Host Seminar on Recent Disaster Legislation

Humble, TX - The Lake Houston Economic Development Partnership (EDP) will host a seminar, Relief After Harvey presented by CenterPoint Energy, on Monday, October 23 at the Humble Civic Center starting at 8:30 a.m. to help businesses affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The Relief After Harvey seminar is focused on highlighting existing and tested federal hiring programs as well as recent legislation that can help affected businesses offset the increased cost of retaining existing employees and finding new ones in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Depending on the size of the business and hiring profile, the credits can be worth a few thousand dollars to tens of thousand dollars annually.

Speakers include Brian Kelly, President of Cost Management Services and Mark Mitchell, President of Lake Houston EDP.

Kelly is the Managing Partner of CMS WOTC & iRecruit and has over 30 years of experience in the employment tax credit & software technology industries.  CMS has been providing WOTC tax credit services since 1997 and in 2012 developed a secure web portal to collect and process WOTC information in a paperless manner. Kelly has a BS in Finance from the University of Central Connecticut. CMS is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. 

Mitchell is President of the Lake Houston Economic Development Partnership and has over 20 years of experience in multiple facets of economic development negotiating federal, state, and local tax incentives on behalf of state & local governments, as well as retail, commercial and industrial clients throughout the U.S. Mitchell has received numerous state, regional and local awards related to his community and economic development activities. Mitchell holds a B.A. from Indiana University and a M.B.A. from Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana and is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Check-in opens at 8:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be offered before the seminar starts at 9 a.m. in rooms C and D of the Civic Center. EDP Investors get a free registration to this seminar. Chamber members pay $15 and non-Chamber members pay $25. A registration is required for this event.
