The Loop is a A $30 Million recreation, sports and dining multiplex planned for south Reno!
Several developers partnered to create the vision for a recreation multiplex in south Reno. Imagine a collection of buildings and businesses constructed for families and adults in South Meadows area.
The Loop is a $30 million, 20-acre complex with planned family and adult dining options, bowling lanes, roller-skating and arcade games, indoor multilevel rope obstacle course and a year-round indoor sports facility called the Sportsdome XL. It's all planned for the northeast corner of South Meadows and Double Diamond parkways.

Anthony June, president and developer of The Loop, said the south Reno area is full of 50 percent families with children and 50 percent families without children, so the complex is meant to appeal to these major demographics in different ways.
The Loop plans to open in 2018 with two dining and entertainment spaces, Rounders and Zeppelin.

Rounders is geared toward families with children who want to eat higher end food than what usually appeals to couples with children in tow, June said.

Rounders plans to feature bowling lanes, a roller-skating rink, the ropes obstacle course and more than 8,000 square feet of arcade and ticketed games. Rounders should highlight nutritious and consciously sourced food options too, according to a news release.

Zeppelin will be a 21 and over bar and restaurant geared toward the families without children - or couples who want to get away from their children. Zeppelin plans to showcase fresh oysters, drinks and shareable foods.

Chef, Jakon Tolhurst will be at the helm of both kitchens. Originally from the Nevada City-Grass Valley area, Chef Tolhurst will bring more than 15 years of experience in the Reno cooking scene, according to a news release.

The owners of Reno Sportsdome in northeast Reno, Owen Blake and Kanish Ali, announced they will be opening a second location in The Loop called Sportsdome XL. They said it will be four times larger than the current facility with 120,000 square feet.

Blake said the current Sportsdome is at capacity with soccer and flag football leagues. They hope to add soccer, lacrosse, arena softball, futsal (Brazilian sport like soccer but with a heavier ball), flag football, basketball, volleyball, pickle ball, badminton and others that will fill the larger facility.

Reno City Council member Naomi Duerr spoke at the press conference about the project.  Duerr said she was happy the project developers did not ask the city or state for tax rebates or incentives and instead funded it through investors and their own money.

Rounders and Zeppelin plan to build out and open by spring. The Sportsdome is planned to break ground during winter and open at the end of 2018.
