Early-bird Registration opens for 2018 AEA International Convention & Trade Show
Registration has opened for the 61st annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show, the largest gathering of general aviation avionics manufacturers, distributors and government-certified repair stations in the world. It is the platform of choice for the introduction of new avionics products and services coming to the marketplace in 2018.  The event takes place March 26-29, 2018, at the MGM Grand Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Attendees must register by Dec. 15, 2017, to receive the early-bird discount price of $625 (AEA member rate) for a full convention registration. The early-bird promotion offers a $150 per person savings off the on-site registration fee.
A special AEA group rate of $145 per night is available at the MGM Grand through Feb. 21, 2018, or until the room block is full.  More...

Transport Canada publishes UAV regulations to Gazette Part I
As the use of unmanned aerial vehicles increases and more complex and capable UAVs are brought into the market, Transport Canada Civil Aviation is preparing the regulatory framework to manage the operation of this "new" type of aircraft. As business use increases, it is probable that more shops will begin to engage operators of UAVs, and it is important to understand the requirements in doing so .   More...  


Safety Management Systems
The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand is sponsoring five SMS Industry Workshops in February and March 2018. The 1.5-day courses will provide a fundamental understanding of safety management and the necessary steps to develop and effectively implement the various elements of SMS .  Locations and dates are as follows:

St. Croix sees new Tradewinds

DAC INTERNATIONAL 's  GDC31 Roll Steering Converter received EASA approval (10063292). 

ELLIOTT AVIATION delivered the 500th Garmin G1000 King Air installation. The aircraft was installed in a King Air B200 for Canadian operator Keewatin Air, and marks the ninth installation Elliott Aviation has completed for Keewatin's fleet, which includes 12 King Airs. 

KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY POLYTECHNIC CAMPUS is expanding its degree options with a new offering for individuals interested in teaching technology at the high school level. 

WESTERN AIRCRAFT completed its first Garmin G5000 Integrated Flight Deck installation on a Beechjet 400A aircraft. 

FLIGHTSAFETY INTERNATIONAL promoted SCOTT GOODWIN to vice president, simulation. 

MAXCRAFT AVIONICS successfully flew a Daher TBM aircraft and demonstrated full internet connectivity using the Gogo Biz Network and ATG products, which offer full internet and voice experience. The initial test aircraft was a TBM930 and was equipped with a Gogo ATG 1000; however, the design allows installation across Daher's TBM fleet installing any of Gogo's ATG systems--ATG 1000, 2000 or 5000. 

AVMAX took delivery of the third batch of six aircraft of a 27 Dash 8-100 aircraft purchase deal from Piedmont Airlines with delivery stream through the first quarter of 2018. 

LATITUDE TECHNOLOGIES received Transport Canada CAN-TSO Design Approval AP-106 for the company's S200-012 ATS Safety Voice System. The S200-012 is approved to TSO-C159b "Next Generation Satellite Systems equipment" recognized by Transport Canada, the FAA and EASA.
