If someone steals your cab, then it wasn't your cab.
* Taxi Driver Wisdom *

I almost never go out.

I vastly prefer having friends over.

Last Friday, though, I gathered my courage and headed out with my crew to a downtown party of an old friend.

I lasted about 15 crowd-filled minutes before we left to hit a local Mexican spot for a few margaritas before heading home.

Unfortunately, by the time we left it was late and freezing and there were absolutely no cabs to be found.

All my trusty transport apps were either having issues or telling me it was a 15 minute wait.

I thought to myself, "OK, Universe, I've learned my lesson: I will definitely never leave home again."

And then, suddenly, out of nowhere, this cab appeared, offering the most memorable ride I've had in 20+ years of NYC travel.

As you can see, there was a laser show happening on the ceiling...

And there was actually a small garden of living plants growing in the space between the driver's space and back seat.

And there were even live goldfish swimming around.

The  driver told me he brought his fish back and forth from his home each morning, putting them next to one of many plasma balls.

Even beyond that, he was blasting an intense soundtrack to complete the entire, multi-sensory experience.    Here's the music that he played (Thank You, Shazam):

An orchestral piece by a modern Finish composer named Einojuhani Rautavaara based around recordings of birdsong from the Arctic Circle (Listen HERE), followed by Ozzy Osborne's Crazy Train, and finally Jingle Bells.

And then...I was home.

Perhaps over-tipping him, I wondered what the actual best take-away might be since the cab ride alone more than justified leaving my house.

And then it occurred to me: this guy vividly demonstrated that we bring ourselves wherever we go.

Earlier in the day, I'd reconnected with colleague who recounted a series of new problems which were pretty much exactly the same as her old problems. Although they were career troubles and not romantic, they were, as Oprah says, the same guy just wearing a new set of pants.

But when you've got this working for you, when you've nailed down your Alignment and your personal style and you're expressing yourself 100% like this driver, you basically travel and bring your own party wherever you go.

Trust Me: that kind of Magic can touch a lot of cold, weary travelers.

Namaste for Now,
