CVB Employee Receives DMA West Scholarship
Santa Clara Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) aka Visit Santa Clara's Marketing Coordinator, Daryl Zape was one of four recipients who received the 2017 Destination Marketing Association of the West (DMA West) Education Summit Scholarship. Others awarded were from Visit Vallejo, Visit Carmel, and the Breckenridge Tourism Office.
The DMA West Education Summit is where destination marketers and industry partners gather to explore and gather resources, strategies, solutions, and more. At this year's "In the Marketplace" roundtables, Daryl was able to participate in open discussions with peers, sharing ideas, challenges, and solutions facing the travel industry.
Santa Clara Hotels Run 86% Weekend Occupancy in August!
With the Santa Clara Convention & Visitors Bureau aka Visit Santa Clara focused on generating weekend visitation for City of Santa Clara hoteliers, the City's major hotels near the Convention Center ran 86% weekend (Friday - Saturday) occupancy in August, 2017 compared to 85% occupancy during the week (Sunday - Thursday). These stats are according to the hospitality industry STR (Star) report which tracks hotel data worldwide.
Visit Santa Clara sales and marketing efforts worked to bring in multiple conventions in August, including Crunchyroll Expo (10,000), Bricks By the Bay (2,000), and Bay Area Christian Church (3,000). The team also marketed California's Great America theme park/hotel packages to out of town consumers. The packages include one weekend night (Friday or Saturday) hotel stay with two California's Great America general admission tickets. In addition, two 49ers pre-season games were held at Levi's Stadium.
