 Avionics: A Commitment to Training
The fall months of November and December include a variety of professional development opportunities, as the Aircraft Electronics Association plays host to four training courses in Lee's Summit, Missouri. In fact, three of those courses are offered during the month of November. Class size is limited, so early registrations are encouraged to reserve a seat.

Transport Canada and FAA Prepare New Maintenance Implementation Procedure
The Transport Canada Civil Aviation regulatory authority and the Federal Aviation Administration in the U.S. recently met to discuss and draft a new maintenance implementation procedure. The Aircraft Electronics Association plays host to a Basic Wiring and Avionics Installation Training Course, Nov. 3-5, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The course is designed for currently employed repair station personnel, A&P mechanics and others interested in improving or acquiring the skills necessary to perform avionics installations in general aviation aircraft. This three-day seminar employs in-depth theory and hands-on lab exercises to immerse the seminar attendee in the best practices used to plan, manage, and install a general aviation avionics panel. It is FAA-accepted for 26 hours toward IA renewal training. More...

 Aero-News Discusses AEA Avionics Market Report with AEA President
Recently, the AEA released its second-quarter 2014 Avionics Market Report, which noted that total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to more than $652 million in the three-month period. JUPITER AVIONICS was granted an FAA TSO-C139 design approval for its Aural Message Generator, the JA37-001. In addition to the new TSO approval, the company previously obtained the CAN-TSO C139.
SIERRA INDUSTRIES recently announced a new program of performance upgrades to the Cessna 525 Citation Jet series called the Sapphire program. In addition, the company announced a joint project to develop an engine retrofit program for the legacy Citation Jet platform using the recently certified GE Honda HF120 engine. UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS CORP. received technical standard order approval from the FAA for its SBAS-Flight Management System/Multi-Missions Management Ssytem Software Control Number 1001/1101. CUTTER AVIATION received two Arizona Corporate Excellence Awards. It was honored among the Top 50 largest private companies in Arizona and also as one of the fast growing companies in the state. AERO DYNAMIX announced a partnership with Hawker Pacific Airservices based in Dubai to create an additional Aero Dynamix international repair station. AVIDYNE extended its repair service agreement with DUNCAN AVIATION of Lincoln, Nebraska, to include Avidyne's EX500 series of multifunction displays. ELBIT SYSTEMS completed a series of successful helicopter flight tests in Zurich, using the SkyVis Day/Night Head Mounted Display onboard an AW-109SP helicopter of the Swiss air rescue company Rega. DUMONT AVIATION said that its accountable manager, GERARD VAN DYK, received the FAA Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award given in appreciation for dedicated service, technical expertise, professionalism and outsanding maintenance contributions to further the cause of aviation safety. VECTOR AEROSPACE signed a five-year agreement with the Orange County Sheriff's Department to conduct maintenance, repair and overhaul on its AS350 and UH-1H helicopters.
