JET AVIATION announced it will serve as the exclusive maintenance provider for Vienna-based Art Aviation's fleet of aircraft.  

TERRY PALMER, director of training for METRO AVIATION, was named chairman of HAI's Flight Training Committee. TAREK LOUTFY, the company's director of safety, recently became a member of HAI's Safety Committee.
  
VECTOR AEROSPACE - HELICOPTER SERVICES NORTH AMERICA recently appointed ERIC HICKS regional sales director for Western Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.

General Aviation: A State-by-State Economic Impact Survey

 

The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

 

Washington

 

Airports: 137 (45 GA)

Pilots: 20,028

GA Aircraft: 7,585

GA Jobs: 7,615

GA Economic Impact: $3.18 billion annually

 

Note: The state of Washington is home to 59 charter flight companies, 116 repair stations and 24 flight schools operating 181 aircraft.

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. To date, more than 197 members of the U.S. Congress have signed on to the General Aviation Caucus. Click below to see if your elected representative is a member. If not, please contact them immediately and ask them to join the GA Caucus to promote the value of the general aviation industry to our nation's economy.

The NextGen Ahead Air Transportation Modernization Conference will take place at the Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington, D.C., Sept. 9-11.

As the annual AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wis., quickly approaches, Avionics News reports that the market for experimental, amateur-built aircraft is one of the few bright spots in general aviation. It also is one that avionics shops may have avoided. Recently, Ric Peri, AEA vice president of government and industry affairs, received numerous questions from AEA members where his answer was essentially the same: ask your inspector.
  
Peri said, "If you are not in compliance, you not only need to know that you are not in compliance, but you absolutely need to know 'why' you are not in compliance, as well. If you do not know 'why' your actions are not in compliance with the regulations, you cannot amend your business practices to be in compliance."
