 Deputy FAA Administrator to give Keynote Address at AEA Convention
Michael G. Whitaker, the deputy administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration and chief NextGen officer, will address the opening session of the 58th annual Aircraft Electronics Association International Convention & Trade Show, April 8, in Dallas, Texas. Whitaker was sworn into office in June 2013, and he is responsible for helping to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the largest aerospace system in the world. As the FAA's chief NextGen officer, he is responsible for the development and implementation of the agency's NextGen, an air traffic control modernization program shifting from ground-based radar to state-of-the-art satellite technology. Early-Bird Registration ends January 5 for AEA Convention
Registration has opened for the 58th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show, the premier event for the general aviation avionics industry and the only wholesale avionics show marketed to nearly 90 percent of the international government-certified avionics repair shop industry. Early-bird registration is now open through Jan. 5.
 This year's AEA Convention takes place April 8-11, 2015, at Marriott's Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. FIVE RINGS AEROSPACE, an Australian-based engineering organization, obtained engineering approval authority from the Papua New Guinea Civil Aviation Safety Authority, adding to a similar level of authority from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. The approvals complement the company's Australian CASA Part 21 design approval authority. TRIG AVIONICS' TY91 and TY92 VHF 8.33 radios can now be ordered as a Dual Control Kit, allowing two radio controllers to integrate with a single Trig radio hardware box. DAC INTERNATIONAL, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, named KAREL VAN MEEKEREN European director of marketing and sales.
VECTOR AEROSPACE received FAA and EASA certification for development and installation of the Helicopter Terrain Awareness System for AS332 C, L and L1 aircraft.
JUPITER AVIONICS announced that Grob Aircraft selected Jupiter's JA37-001 Aural Message Generator for installation in the G120TP training aircraft.
GARMIN announced the availability of the Flight Stream 110/210 Bluetooth wireless gateway. Flight Stream enables connectivity and communication between select Garmin avionics and Garmin Pilot on certain iPad/iPhone and Android devices.
EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY Vice President for Corporate Relations and Government Affairs LOUIS C. SENO JR. will donate his late father's Corben Junior Ace aircraft for display at West Michigan Aviation Academy, along with a $150,000 long-term pledge in scholarship support for WMAA graduates attending Embry-Riddle.
ROCKWELL COLLINS unveiled a new program to equip pilots, flight line maintenance and service repair technicians with on-the-go training on mobile devices. In addition, the company's Venue HD cabin management and entertainment system, Airshow Moving Map and audio/video on-demand streaming solutions, were selected by an undisclosed customer for a wide-body Airbus A340 business jet.
CONSTANT AVIATION named SCOTT BAKER avionics manager for its Cleveland, Ohio, location.
ALTO AVIATION expanded its Florida research and development facility by 50 percent to support the company's planned growth. The expanded facility houses a testing lab to support in-house DO-160 testing and TSO certification testing. The company also appointed its vice president of engineering, STEVE SCARLATA, as vice president of research and development.
CUTTER AVIATION customers arriving at the Deer Valley, Arizona, location will now enjoy a resurfaced ramp. The project began at the end of September and took just six weeks to complete. In addition, the company's staff collected nonperishable food items, blankets and toys for local food banks, Share & Care and the Humane Society as part of its annual charity efforts.
DUNCAN AVIATION and Vail Valley Jet Center are partnering to provide avionics services to operators requiring avionics assistance at Eagle County Regional Airport in Vail, Colorado. In addition, the company's location in Provo, Utah, received an extension of its authorized service facility agreement with Bombardier Business Aircraft to include the Bombardier Challenger 850 aircraft.
HONEYWELL AEROSPACE executives joined members of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to break ground on construction of a new research and development laboratory the company will operate in the northern municipality of Moca.
SATCOM DIRECT entered into a dealership agreement with EMTEQ, soon to be B/E Aerospace, that enables customers to choose EMTEQ's eConnect Suite of Solutions from Satcom Direct's product portfolio.
GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE named MARK KNALL vice president and general manager of the company's facility in Appleton, Wisconsin.

 GA Caucus
Industry advocates on Capitol Hill
In 2009, General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate to inform congressional members and staff about the importance of general aviation to the nation's economy and transportation system. Today, the House GA Caucus has grown to become one of the largest caucuses in the House of Representatives. A listing of current House and Senate GA Caucus members is available on the AEA website.
The congressional caucuses recently lost a few members due to retirement or election defeat in November, and new caucuses will be formed when the next session begins in January 2015. More...
