Principal's Message
October 28, 2016
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
You may have noticed an outpouring of school spirit lately. Team banners, locker signs, and fence decorations seem to be here, there, and everywhere. The OLQP Booster Brigade has been VERY busy. The students know the cheers that are led at morning assembly - just ask them! Both the girls' volleyball team and the co-ed soccer team went to the play-offs this week. The girls traveled to Houston to what would ultimately be their last game of the season. It was great experience to have played at that level. The team is young so we know great things are ahead of them!
The soccer team had the home team advantage in the first play-off game onTuesday. The score was 2-1 as the SAINTS brought it home. The team worked together to support the efforts of Colton Coughlin and Jack Yates who brought in the goals. What a game! The second game was in Houston on Thursday. The score remained 0 - 0 until the last five minutes of the game when Jack Yates was able to bring it home again to a 1-0 win for the Saints. Has this created a bit of interest? The next game is in Houston at St. Pius at 5:30pm on Saturday, October 29th...Join us as we support Saints soccer. Go, Saints!
It is so exciting to watch our students play competitively. Competition makes us work harder and play better. At OLQP, that's not the whole story. Students are taught to work together, support each other, and to see their God-given talents as gifts to be developed and appreciated. Teachers and coaches are interested in each child's development. Patience and perseverance are qualities to be nurtured and developed. Playing sports provides many opportunities for growth.
The OLQP athletics program is open to students in 5 th through 8 th grade. It is a blessing to have so many supportive parents and great coaches. If your children are still in lower elementary, you have a lot to look forward to!

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

News You Can Use...
OLQP Café
Tips for managing your child's account balance:
  1. Review the lunch menu and discuss choices with your child the night before (or whatever time frame works for your child.)
  2. Discuss any limitations that you need in regard to spending and / or choices.
  3. Know that students in kinder through 8th grade go through the line to choose their lunches.
  4. Know that the food is delicious and the children like to get seconds.
  5. Look for the account report each Friday. The report is generated by the cafeteria manager. This is a new effort to help parents.
  6. Join your child for lunch and see why it is so tempting to buy lunch at the OLQP Café.
