FAFSA Filing Begins October 1
for the class of 2017 and...
the Sooner You File, the more likely you are to get money!
Here's another important fact: You must file the FAFSA even if you don’t think you will qualify for Financial Aid. Many colleges use the information in Section G to distribute their own money.

What that means is that some colleges, in order to justify the amount of grant money they will give you, are required to have the FAFSA information on file. It might not make sense but it is what it is.

Beginning with the Class of 2017, the calculation of aid is based on a Prior Prior Year formula, which means parents will use the tax year 2015 (which you filed in April of 2016) as the source documents.
