Safety Improvement Work on Old SR 74 Will Require a Five-Month Closure Starting Monday, November 14
Old SR 74 between Olive Branch-Stonelick Road and Amelia-Olive Branch will be closed

The calendar year is coming to an end, but work to improve the safety and flow of traffic on a portion of Old SR 74 between Olive Branch-Stonelick Road and Armstrong Boulevard is ramping up with work to begin later this month.

The first phase of this construction project will require a road closure on Old SR 74 between Olive Branch-Stonelick Road and Amelia-Olive Branch Road to widen the bridge on Old SR 74. This closure will begin on Monday, November 14, 2016, and continue through Monday, April 10, 2017, weather permitting. A detour will be put into place and signage will mark the detour route within the project area. (Click the image below to view the detour route.)

Old SR 74 Widening will improve safety and access in our area.

The project will also include the installation of new signals with improved sensor technology at the Olive Branch-Stonelick and Amelia-Olive Branch intersections.

Construction will begin this month and continue through the winter as weather allows. Significant activity will resume in the spring of 2017, and the project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2017.

Work on the Aicholtz Road Connector Continues on Schedule
BoulevardThis closure will be in place from October 11 through November 23. Aicholtz Road remains open to one-way westbound traffic.

This project will reestablish a vital link in the Eastgate area's roadway network by providing a new I-275 underpass.

Aicholtz Road will be widened from two lanes to three, with a center turn lane to help ease congestion and reduce conflict points for turning traffic, and the alignment will be improved on the west end of the road. A sidewalk will also be built on the south side of the street.
