The Times, They Are A-Changin'

| No one said it quite like Bob Dylan, the iconic 1960s folk singer who wrote, "The Times, They are A-Changin'." (Who knew back then that Mr. Dylan would win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016?) The times indeed are a-changin', especially in regards to the new tax deadlines for corporations and partnerships. |

The short-term highway funding bill passed in 2015 made some changes to future tax return due dates that may affect you and your filing deadlines.
Beginning with 2016 returns that are filed in 2017, partnership and "S" corporation returns will be due March 15, while "C" corporation returns will now be due on April 15. Extensions for partnerships, S corporations and C corporations will be available up until September 15. Individual tax return due dates will not change but the foreign bank account reporting deadline will move from June 30 to April 15, with an extension allowed until October 15. Finally, trust returns will still be due April 15 but will be allowed extensions until September 30.

This year Mathieson, Moyski, Austin & Co. is once again sponsoring the Lions Club Reindeer Run, a 5K scheduled for 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. This lively event, hosted by the Wheaton Park District, brings friends and families together in downtown Wheaton and a portion of the proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House near Northwestern Medicine in Winfield. | On Nov. 13, The Fox Valley Associated General Contractors will host its annual Holiday Meat Raffle, a morning of brunch, "Da Bears" and networking. MMA & Co. is a sponsor of this event, proceeds of which will go toward the James Bannister Scholarship Fund, named in honor of FVAGC's first executive director. This year we'll once again support Teen Parent Connection with a Holiday Gift Drive, in partnership with our friends at Wheaton Bank & Trust. We'll be sending out more information about TPC's "wish list" for their young parents... drop-off sites will include the bank locations and our office here at 211 S. Wheaton. Stay tuned!

Our People Make a Difference

Suburban Life has named Brett Mathieson, CPA, as an award winner in its 3rd Annual "Best Under 40" awards program. The "Best Under 40" award is given to DuPage County young professionals who have made significant contributions to their professions, companies and communities. Brett and his fellow award winners will be honored at a dinner on Nov. 17 at Seven Bridges Golf Club in Woodridge. Congratualations to Brett, who has served this year as president of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce in addition to serving as president of the Police Pension Fund Board for the City of Wheaton. |
And a big welcome to new MMA & Co. staff members Alice Berardi, Christa Hamilton and Robin Metzger! Alice will be of service to both tax and audit clients, Christa will work in tax and accounting and Robin will support tax clients as well as giving support in the bookkeeping and administrative areas.

Alice received her bachelor's in accountancy with highest honors from Northern Illinois University. Christa has worked in accounting for 10 years and received her marketing degree from Aurora University and is a qualifying candidate to sit for the CPA exam. Robin has worked in public accounting for 18 years.
