Tami Smith joins WallGoldfinger as new office manager

Experienced in primarily the hospitality industry, Tami Smith of Rochester has joined WallGoldfinger as its office manager - a critical role that greets callers and visitors and works with all departments to provide coordination and support.

A native of Waddington, N.Y., Tami attended Paul Smith College, earning her associate's degree in hospitality in 1993. She went on to spend eight years in the U.S. Army and then upon returning to New York joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Watertown, N.Y.

Since she's worked in Florida, New York and Vermont in a variety of roles, including front office manager and assistant general manager at three different hotels, as office manager of a newspaper and most recently as executive director of a senior center.

Love brought her to Vermont. She reunited with her college sweetheart, Noel Smith of Rochester, Vt., and in 2011 made the move to first Vergennes and then Rochester, Vt. They married a year later.

She joined WallGoldfinger in September in a complex role that involves diverse administrative tasks, supporting the project management team and interacting with WallGoldfinger's sales representatives and clients around the country.

"I love it. I'm picking tasks up quickly. I feel comfortable and wanted here," said Smith of her new role and employer.

Tami has been impressed with her helpful new co-workers who are showing her the ropes, the positive work atmosphere and the quality of furniture produced by the company.

In her free time, Tami is a wife and mother of two, including 21-year-old Kristin Pike and 18-year-old Ashli Pike, as well as an 11-year-old stepson, Jack.

Sam Brown named shipping/receiving, maintenance supervisor

Sam Brown of Plainfield, Vt., is putting his maintenance experience to work as WallGoldfinger's new shipping/receiving and maintenance supervisor.

Sam's role is to coordinate shipping by truck, trailer or plane of the company's high-end completed work to clients - be they located across the country or across the world. Sam is also in charge of receiving supplies and maintaining WallGoldfinger's 62,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art factory.

A Plainfield native, Sam grew up in Fayston and attended Harwood Union High School graduating in 1994. He went on to work as a mason tender around the state; ran the family automotive garage in Warren; did fire sprinkler installation in Vermo
nt, New Hampshire and New York; and worked in maintenance at first Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waterbury for 10 years and then most recently at HP Hood in South Barre.

He joined WallGoldfinger in September for the work culture and opportunity to be part of such a high-end manufacturer.

"Everybody here is extremely nice and always in a really good mood," reflected Sam, who is learning the shipping aspects of the job as well as the plant and finding himself excited for the variety of work he faces each day.

Also exciting is the variety of furniture the 45-year-old company ships around the world.

In the hallway leading into WallGoldfinger, large photos of past projects are featured. Some, like the tables built for the White House, feature government leaders. "I was really impressed when I saw the pictures of the tables with the president and the naval commander," said Sam, noting it is exciting for a Vermont company to work with the nation's leaders.

When not at WallGoldfinger, Sam is busy as a husband to wife Victoria and father to sons, Colin, 22, Solomon, 18, and Noah, 16. He also has a 1-year-old granddaughter and a grandson on the way. Together the family enjoys kayaking and four-wheeling.
