The Maya Gold Foundation was created in response to the tragic death of 15-year old Maya Gold, a New Paltz High School student who took her own life in October of 2015. Maya's parents, Elise Gold and Mathew Swerdloff, launched the organization with help from community members and friends, in response to the social pressures and concerns her death brought to light.

About Hudson Valley HorsePlay
Hudson Valley HorsePlay offers experiential learning & counseling by partnering people with horses. Horses are especially helpful because of their ability to respond to non-verbal messages. They are highly skilled at defining boundaries. Their language is clear, organized, and consistent. They are non-judgemental and have no expectations or motives. Engaging with horses helps participants identify healthy and unhealthy behaviors and offers opportunities to establish and practice new and positive relationships. HorsePlay sessions include one or more horses and are facilitated by Eagala certified equine specialists alongside licensed mental health counselors.  Click here to meet Rosey Rouhana, LMHC, NCC

Referrals are welcomed year-round. A sliding scale is available.
