Florida Foster Care Review Program Assistant Denise McArthur Honored with Voices For Children Pathfinder Award

Everyone at Florida Foster Care Review is incredibly proud of Denise McArthur who, on Friday, October 21, received the Pathfinder Award at the 22nd Annual Be A Voice Luncheon to benefit the Voices For Children Foundation . Denise, who spent time in Miami-Dade's foster care system and worked her way through college, was hired by Florida Foster Care Review in December 2014. She started out as part-time File Room Assistant and became a full-time Program Assistant just one year later. Through her work at Florida Foster Care Review, Denise demonstrates the devotion that our organization's team members have shown to abused and neglected children in our community for over 25 years.

When accepting her award, Denise spoke candidly to the crowd of nearly 500 guests, which included child welfare stakeholders, community leaders, attorneys, judges and elected officials. Her full acceptance speech is  here . For more about Denise and the Pathfinder Award,  read our press release .

In His Own Words
Florida Youth SHINE's "Digital Stories" series empowers youth to share their experiences in creative ways and through their own voices. This video, premiered at the Department of Children and Families 2016 Child Protection Summit last month, is close to our hearts. It's the story of Cameron, who was in foster care and later adopted by our very own Citizen Review Panel Specialist, Yani Sanchez. We know you'll be as moved by this story as we are. Claws for Kids is Getting Closer!

The Claws for Kids Luncheon is just around the corner!
