The fACTs newsletter is for TSAHC's local partners in the Affordable Communities of Texas (ACT) program. The quarterly newsletter provides information to help make your programs as successful as possible.
TSAHC Seeking New Local Partnerships
TSAHC is actively seeking partners for specific areas of the state. If you currently work or would consider working in one of the five communities listed below, please let us know. Alternatively, please let us know if you recommend a non-profit partner we should contact in one of these communities.
Bastrop
Del Rio
Laredo
Lufkin
Wichita Falls
If you choose to recommend another non-profit partner, please share with them that
the ACT program is a statewide land banking and land trust initiative which assists local nonprofit and governmental entities with the acquisition and redevelopment of distressed properties. To date, TSAHC has partnered with more than 25 housing organizations. TSAHC combines its expertise in acquiring land and foreclosed properties with the local developer's knowledge of best construction practices and community needs.
Please also note that there are requirements to be a partner organization that are detailed in our policies and guidelines. There is also a partner application interested organizations must complete.
Thank you in advance for helping us strengthen current relationships and create new ones.
We also wanted to share a blog post from the Center for Community Progress that explains new resources for short- and long-term vacant land reuse. Below is an excerpt followed by a link to the blog entry.
"The Detroit Future City Implementation Office is working to support reuse activity on vacant lots in Detroit. Through a collaborative process, they developed a tool to provide inspiration and practical resources to help people implement small-scale reuse projects. The recently launched tool,
DFC Field Guide to Working with Lots, is one of the most comprehensive and creative resources for lot reuse implementation that I've ever seen."
