Over the last six weeks, the NNCG Steering Committee led by an internal Strategic Planning Task Force, and our Project Director, Terry Horton, have been hard at work. We are excited to share with you our completed NNCG Strategic Framework. You will see more information about the strategic framework, and the 2017-2020 strategic plan and how we invite you to engage with NNCG to implement the plan in the weeks and months to come.

Our strategic planning efforts commenced in January 2016, when the Steering Committee convened to discuss the future strategy of the network. In space graciously offered by the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, we re-affirmed that NNCG is a mission-driven, field-building network comprised of ethical, transformative consultants and our partners in foundations and philanthropy-serving organizations. At our April 2016 annual meeting, the Steering Committee shared the emerging strategic framework and we received comments from NNCG's members and other stakeholders to inform the creation of our final Strategic Plan.
To our consultant members, we invite you to lean into your engagement with NNCG. You are a part of an innovative field-building network and together we will continue to support excellence in the field of philanthropy. As one of our members said recently, "It's meaningful work, it's purposeful. There is continued rigor in the work. That matters. To align with a national organization that really promotes professionalism, striving towards excellence, and ethics - that has been a perfect fit."

NNCG Webinar Series
Family foundations can be isolated institutions. Too often, trustees have don't access and use information that would help them to do their jobs better-information about the communities they serve, the issues they are working to support, the other key stakeholders who support these same issues, and the ways to effectively govern.
Family foundation trustees are also often challenged by issue like geographic dispersion, lack of time (and possibly engagement), and, of course, complex family dynamics. How do you get them smart about the work-and foster a shared learning experience that helps strengthen family engagement, tap the wisdom of those the foundation seeks to support, and foster more effective grantmaking on an ongoing basis?
In this session, we will discuss strategies for creating a learning culture in family philanthropy-learning from grantees and the communities we serve, and from our peers and fellow trustees. The result is better informed, more relevant philanthropy, and a more engaging experience for trustees.

2016 National Conference for Growing Community Foundations
Join your community foundation colleagues in Wichita, Kansas for the 2016 Annual National Conference for Growing Community Foundations.
This Conference is an outgrowth of those convened by the Kansas Association of Community Foundations over the last ten years, which has gained national recognition and attendance. It is tailored to small-staffed and volunteer-led community foundations in rural, small urban, and suburban America. It is designed to meet the needs of both new and seasoned board members and staff in practical training to enhance skills in all major areas of community foundation management. Lisa Korwin of Korwin Consulting recently released "Using a Systems Change Framework for BIGGER Impact." Through a strategic partnership with women's foundations and the Women's Funding Network, this report shows how using the five key approaches within the Systems Change Framework - effective programming, creating strong and effective linkages, improving the political environment, developing a strong infrastructure, and taking efforts to scale - can successfully position local programs as well as national initiatives to effect change on key social issues and how to apply these lessons within a foundation setting.
