Principal's Message
September 16, 2016
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Today was such a special day. Many hearts and hands worked together to make the day one to remember. It was gratifying to see so many of those who were here in the early days. Past principals, school board presidents, board members, teachers, students, parents, and friends were here. They came back to celebrate the memories and to share the joy that we all have as part of this community.
Cardinal DiNardo gave the students a beautiful history lesson. He encouraged the students to be rooted in the Faith and to embrace it as it informs all other learning. He talked about the courage of the martyrs whose feast day was celebrated today, Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian. These two men paid the ultimate price for living and teaching the Gospel. For some, martyrdom is a physical sacrifice.
Others give their lives wholly to God in another way. They give it by living their lives in complete faith and trust in God. They step out in courage and forge ahead even when others say that they will fail. The founder of Our Lady Queen of Peace was one of those people. She knew that God had a plan. She knew that her role was to be faithful to that plan. Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School is her legacy. It is built on the faith and trust of a Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament and those who were inspired to help her.
God has called each of us to be here in this historic moment. Now we must have the faith and trust to carry on this beautiful legacy. Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of OLQP. May God bless you and your family abundantly for all you do to ensure that a Catholic education is available to students in southern Brazoria County for the next 30 years...and beyond!

Remember When
Mr. Jack Hawthorne became principal in 1994. He served as principal at OLQP through the 2002-2003 school year. He came here as a strong school leader who had retired from public school. He actually worked as the P.E. teacher before he became principal. My first year here was his first year as principal. It was he who told me that I needed to get my master's degree...so he could retire! Some of my favorite memories of the time that I was here with Mr. Hawthorne are:
He was always saying, "Wonderful!" Everything was wonderful!
Another favorite topic was that this is "holy ground."
He was also known to say, "Whatever Sister wants!"
