Each year,
Michigan State University (MSU),
Lansing Community College (LCC) and
Ingham Intermediate School District (ISD) partner together to offer programs for gifted students in the region. This summer, 58 students participated in
MASCOT, which focuses on Mathematics, and more than 200 attended
Kids' College, which focuses on science.
Ingham ISD offered both programs on MSU's campus. In addition,
MSU and
LCC offer classes for gifted students throughout the year. We need to find ways to continually challenge the minds of our students. Partnerships make the difference.
FCCLA National Conference
Students from the Capital Area Career Center's
Culinary Arts & Hospitality program traveled to San Diego, California in July to participate in the
Family, Career & Community Leaders of America National Conference and competed in a variety of categories. In total,
students earned over $500,000 in scholarships as a result of their efforts. Congratulations to our students and our instructors for a fantastic year.
Sarah Winslow Received Statewide Honor
The saying goes..."everybody needs a little help sometimes." Sarah Winslow is one of those people who is always giving of herself and her time, no matter what. She is a special education leader at
Ingham ISD who works diligently with youth and families to help them transition to different chapters of their lives. She received
this honor for her work with Michigan Rehabilitation Services and for her strong commitment to empower individuals with disabilities to take charge of their futures. We could not be more proud of Sarah and her accomplishments.
