Sunday, September 11 was "God's work. Our Hands." Sunday, a dedicated day of service in the ELCA. Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ - every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life - flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God's grace. We'd like to know what your congregation did on "God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday (or whichever day you designated or will designate a Day of Service) - send pictures of your service event to [email protected]!
Shepherd of the Valley, Simi Valley made 60 blessing bags for the homeless and 12 welcome bags for
Sarah's House, a
Christian Maternity Home dedicated to helping homeless, single and expectant mothers who want to make positive changes in their life while in a secure, residential setting. At Sarah's House, volunteers painted two bedrooms, a hallway, entry way, and kitchen wall. In addition, they washed walls, cupboards and windows, as well as spreading bark in the yard.
Ascension, Los Angeles spend the day cleaning up their neighborhood and having a clothing giveaway. See their
Facebook page for videos highlighting their Day of Service!
Angelica, Los Angeles honored their brothers and sisters who serve the Lord in
their
community through the Good Samaritan program, the Senior Citizen Lunch, the Angelica Center for the Arts, and more!
