Fall Flavours Sept. 29

Celebrate the best of local with us on Sept. 29 at the Truro Farmers' Market. 12 local chefs will be serving  dishes featuring a variety of locally sourced meats, produce and other ingredients. Sample beer, wine and spirits from Coldstream Clear Distillery, Caldera, Steinhart Distillery, Benjamin Bridge, Tatamagouche Brewing Company and Nook and Cranny, while enjoying a taste of local dining under the outside pavilion at the Truro Farmers' Market. TD Business Builders Series

The Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce will be launching a new program on Sept. 28 - The TD Business Builder series. This series of 10 early morning workshops will provide Chamber members an opportunity to connect with an expert on a variety of topics providing information and tools to build their business. This program is sponsored by TD Canada Trust and is offered FREE of CHARGE to Chamber members. Participants can chose to participate in one or more sessions or register for all 10.
The TD Business Builder series will be held  from 8 to 9 a.m., at the Marigold Cultural Centre Workshop, 605 Prince St., Truro.

Wave 1 of the Atlantic Canada Business Confidence Index has been released
Earlier this year our Chamber joined dozens of others across Atlantic Canada by participating in the inaugural 2016 Atlantic Canada Business Confidence Index Bench Mark Study undertaken by Corporate Research Associates Inc. This is a comprehensive survey of business of business owners and executives across industries, providing insight into current economic business conditions, anticipated business conditions for the coming year, capital purchase intentions and hiring intentions. The semi-annual initiative provides important economic indicators for industry, the business community and the region's policy makers.

Golf Tournament Sept. 23

  Register by Sept. 12 to participate in the 2016 Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce golf tournament! This year we will be playing at the Mountain Golf and County Club. Shotgun start 9 a.m. Individuals are welcome. Team registration is $400 plus tax ($100 plus tax for individuals) and includes a cart for every two people, 18 holes of golf, lunch, prizes and lots of fun.

Fundy Gateway Public Meeting


The Municipality of Colchester and the Town of Truro are undertaking a masterplan process to re-develop the former Palliser property into an outstanding Bay of Fundy visitor experience.
 
The information and ideas  provided through  stakeholder sessions, online survey and public meetings have helped shaped this new attraction. Initial design concepts are now ready to be presented for review and additional input. A public meeting will be held Sept. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the RECC in the Millbrook Room.

Lunch & Learn Sept. 22

Jeff Bishop of Forest Nova Scotia will present an economic impact study about the forestry industry.
He will be joined by Bob Fraser, presenting an economic impact study completed for Northern Pulp and its direct link to business in Colchester County. The event will be held on Sept. 22 at the RECC, at noon (12 p.m.).

CEED seeking ideas to improve NS curriculum

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED) is looking for individuals within the private sector to help identify the skills, competencies and knowledge that are going to help develop a strong entrepreneurial culture in Nova Scotia. They are asking people to share expertise and experiences to help guide the creation of innovative new curriculum that will be launched across the province. 
 
The Nova Scotia Department of Education & Early Childhood Development has engaged CEED  to lead a consultation process on Entrepreneurship Education at the high school level with key stakeholders.

STARS) is a group of Stewiacke and area residents looking to support a refugee family in their community. They will be holding an auction on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Stewiacke Community Centre, viewing from 8:30 to 9 a.m., live auction starts at 9 a.m. More than 100 items. Silent auction table every half hour. Harvest boxes to purchase for $30
