On Saturday, August 27th, 2016, Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) in Los Angeles celebrates a milestone with their
10th Anniversary Gala exhibition displaying new works from over 100 of the finest American and International artists
throughout its expansive 12,000 square foot space. Over the past ten years, Corey Helford Gallery exhibitions have welcomed thousands of guests and introduced hundreds of new and exciting voices into the New Contemporary art community in Los Angeles and abroad.
With their recent move to their new space in downtown Los Angeles, Corey Helford occupies the unique position of being the largest gallery in the world to present this genre of popular art, which includes artists who are among the best known by people throughout the globe of all social strata. Simply put, these artists are the most often reproduced, whether through the international reach of social media or the walls of urban cities, large and small, in the world.
This exhibition, curated by gallery owner and primary curator Jan Corey Helford, and Special Projects curator Caro Buermann, marks a momentous
occasion for the gallery, which has been a cornerstone of Los Angeles' arts community for the last decade.
"Opening the doors for the first time in 2006 with butterflies in our stomachs, we wondered what this would all lead to,"
says owner Jan Corey Helford.
"Ten years later, I feel that a whole new adventure is unfolding with our exciting new additions to our artist roster and our new space that allows artists plenty of space to experiment with."
"Our first big exhibition, 'Charity By Numbers' in 2007, co-curated by Gary Baseman, with probably the most amazing line-up ever, and thousands of people inside and outside the gallery was all for charity, but it made us realize the power and momentum of this art movement," Corey Helford explains.
The gallery's biggest event by far was "Art From The New World" in 2010 at the Bristol City Museum, where Banksy had held his solo the year before. The exhibition saw over 60,000 visitors in only three months and established the American New Contemporary Art movement in the UK and Europe. But the best part may have been the opening night where Dita Von Teese performed one of her famous burlesque dances in an Edwardian-era British museum. Another highlight was the D*Face exhibition, "Going Nowhere Fast", where CHG returned the favor and brought a huge UK talent to his proper recognition here in the States. The "Cheat Death" tombstone D*Face, placed on Charlie Sheen's Walk-of-Fame star, brought a lot of attention.
With a focus on underscoring the unique diversity of this exciting contemporary environment, the artworks featured in the 10th Anniversary Gala exhibition span many styles, media, and genres, presenting, for the first time together, new works from a selection of the gallery's growing lineup:

COREY HELFORD GALLERY
Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) was first established in 2006 by Jan Corey Helford and her husband, television producer and creator, Bruce Helford (Anger Management, The Drew Carey Show, George Lopez, The Oblongs) and has since evolved into one of the premier galleries of New Contemporary art.
Its goals as an institution are the support and growth of young and emerging, to well-known and internationally established artists, the production and promotion of their artwork, and the general production of their exhibits, events and projects.
CHG represents a diverse collection of international artists, primarily influenced by today's pop culture and collectively encompassing style genres such as New Figurative Art, Pop Surrealism, Neo Pop, Graffiti and Street Art, and Post-Graffiti.
After nine years in Culver City, CHG re-located in December 2015 to a robust 12,000 sq. ft. building in Downtown Los Angeles, seven times larger than its original space, where it continues to host exhibitions within the heart of the city's art community. The current space boasts three separate galleries, each of which house individual artist and group exhibitions, whereas the main gallery offers 4,500 sq. ft.,
providing total immersion for its attendees.
