Greetings,
We hope you will enjoy this issue of our weekly e-newsletter. Each week we'll keep you informed on what's happening here at St. Matthew's Cathedral - news from the week, what's coming up, and how  you  can be a part of it. This should reach your inbox by Friday giving you a heads up for the  upcoming  week. We hope this helps you plan your week, and maybe even provides a little inspiration to get you through it! Be sure to "Like" us on Facebook  to stay in the know between emails.

A Message from the Dean...
Are your Kids Ready for School?
For you are my hope, O Lord God,
my confidence since I was young. -Psalm 71:5

I remember as a child going to J.C. Penney's in August every year to get new school clothes. (This was when school started the Tuesday after Labor Day and we had no "Fall Break" or teacher in-service days, and so on.) It seemed by the end of summer that our shoes were always woefully worn out. Our blue jeans had patches in them from wear and tear rather than from the factory. Boys can be so rough on shoes! Our socks always had holes in them-from taking off our shoes and only wearing socks. We were awfully rough on socks, too!
Are you preparing your children for school?  I don't mean simply in buying new clothes or new school supplies. Rather, are you preparing them for the pressures of daily school life: the peer pressure to conform and the overall pressure to perform?
How are you preparing your children for school spiritually? In your plans to buy new clothes and uniforms, school supplies and electronics, be sure to pray with them every day before school. Find a devotional book that you can read through at breakfast each day. That sort of spiritual preparation is even more important than the new items that you will buy for your kid.
