What's New:
Summer of Listening
A Summer of Listening to the Voice of Vocation for College Students

Five racially diverse college students representing four churches of Foothills Presbytery have been participating in the summer internship program entitled "Speak, for Your Servant is Listening" (I Samuel 3:10) coordinated by John Knox Presbyterian Church.    In an effort to help identify gifts for ministry and leadership and discern God's call and vocation, these students are engaging in various spiritual practices including  journaling, Lectio Divina and Clearness Committees.
This ministry is a witness of the diversity of the congregations of Foothills Presbytery and the unity we find as sisters and brothers of Christ.   Read Full Article
As pictured, the interns are (left to right):
  • Sung Min Kin, member of the Galilee Korean Presbyterian Church and interning at St. Giles Presbyterian Church and volunteering at St Francis Hospitals, mentored by David Howell, Stated Supply of Second Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg
  • Lal Tan, member of the Greenville Chin Presbyterian Church interning some at St. Giles  and volunteering at St. Francis Hospitals, mentored by Jennifer Fouse Sheorn, Stated Supply Associate Pastor at Fourth Presbyterian Church
  • Bette Klauber, member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and interning at John Knox, mentored by Gordon Turnbull, Sr. Pastor of John Knox
  • Jessica Meggs, member of John Knox and interning with Greer Relief, mentored by Caroline Robertson, Executive Director of Greer Relief and member at John Knox
  • Brennon Adams, member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Anderson and interning at Salem, mentored by his co-pastors Rose and Mashon Nance
(The future intern pictured is Bailey, daughter of Jennifer Fouse Sheorn and her husband Dean)

Prayer Updates
July 14, 2016

Our love and sympathies are extended to our Presbytery Pastor and Stated Clerk, Gordon Raynal and his brothers, upon the death of their mother  Laetitia Hay Jones Raynal on July 12, 2016. The family celebrates ninety-seven years of a life in service to God, family and the church.

Our love and sympathies are extended to Beryl (Honorably retired) and Mary Rosenberger and their family.  Their grandson's 30 year old wife died suddenly last weekend, leaving four young children. Prayers are appreciated.

Marty Harkey (Honorably Retired) was in the hospital with bronchial pneumonia and has since transferred to a local rehab facility. He is getting better and better with each passing day. Prayers are appreciated.

Please keep Nancy Doughtery, wife of Charles Doughtery (Honorably retired), in your prayers. Nancy spent time in critical care at Oconee Hospital this week. The last two days have brought much improvement. Prayers are appreciated.

Thanks for your prayers and concern.

Coordinator of Joys and Concerns: Equipping the Saints team, Rev. Allyson Helvie (point person) in cooperation with staff and the Committee on Ministry. Staff contacts: Rev. Debbie Foster (Presbytery Associate Pastor) and LeAnne White (Administrative Assistant)
