|
|
On stage April 24th receiving the 2019 Spirit of Excellence Award with Dr. Kat Gordon, District 5 School Board Member (story below).
|
It is time to release 4th quarter student progress reports as we now only have 4 full school weeks remaining in this last nine-week marking period. If you have a student at Oak Ridge, please look over their progress report as soon as possible.
We have included the testing calendar again in this issue as well as an updated calendar of events for our Class of 2019 seniors. Kindly look these over closely as they might apply in that this is actually one of the busiest periods of the entire school year with many special events.
Please remember that next Wednesday, May 1st is the first of three consecutive Wednesdays in a row where we will not be releasing students early due to testing.
I hope you enjoy this latest edition and have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Jennifer Bellinger
Principal

Congratulations to all of the Pioneers that signed acceptance letters for the colleges they will attend in the fall.
It's great to be a PIONEER!

added more than 13 million people with at least a 4-year college degree. It also has 4.4 million
fewer people with no college at all.

This Week's Motivational Moment!
An inspirational success story about one of our own Pioneers . . . please take a moment to click on the 2 min. video below. It will make your day!
On April 13th, ORHS piano student, Djyverson Filistin, and members of our Performing Arts team were guests of honor at the annual Back 2 School Blast Gala for A Gift For Teaching. For the 4th year in a row, a student from the Performing Arts department has been the recipient of the shopping spree in December sponsored by A Gift for Teaching.
This year's student - Djyverson Filistin - was nominated by our piano teacher - Mrs. Craig-Evans. Below is a link to the video that was played on April 13th. We are so proud of this young man. He was so charming and interacted with so many people. And we are also so very proud of all the wonderful things happening here at Oak Ridge. #thisisoakridge
"Djyverson's resilience is what makes him stand out in my classroom and as I have learned this year, in all of his classrooms."
"In my 5 years at Oak Ridge I have had a lot of students that come from other countries or who come from really hard circumstances. Djyverson sticks out because he doesn't let that stop him. For instance, he used to walk 1.5 hours to get home after rehearsal until we found out and could then make sure he got a ride home."
Djyverson Filistin with Mrs. Craig-Evans. And thank you to a most valued school partner -

Anthony Phagoo, Class of 2019
Anthony Phagoo is headed to Wesleyan University. He is the first in his extended family to go to college and ORHS with the Junior Achievement Central Florida magnet program has prepared him well.
Please take a minute to look at this quick video on Anthony . . .
just 15 seconds in and you can see why a university of Wesleyan's caliber wants him as part of their student body this fall! *
Shout outs to
Erin Maroney Wolfgramm, Mr. Porterfield, and our
