4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION PARK RAPIDS AREA
Saturday Jul 4, 2020
(at dusk, approximately 9:50-10:10 PM start time, depending upon cloud cover)

Celebrate America's birthday in Park Rapids!

The Park Rapids Rotary Club proudly announces the 4th of July Rotary Fireworks will brighten our evening on Independence Day this year.

“While most events that involve large gatherings have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has decided to continue this treasured community display,” said Stuart Larson, Park Rapids Rotary Club president.

The fireworks will differ from tradition, however. While the fireworks display will still be centered in Heartland Park, Rotary asks everyone to disperse and enjoy the program which is visible throughout the community.  In accordance with CDC Social Distancing Guidelines, spectators need to spread out around the community to view from a distance.

Both Heartland Park and Red Bridge Park will be closed starting at 9:00 PM and  NO restrooms or porta- potties will be available for the public in either Heartland Park or Red Bridge Park. “For everyone’s heath and safety, it will be important to understand the situation and respect the rules of the times we’re in,” added Sue Tomte, fundraiser for the Rotary Club Fireworks Committee. “We all look forward to gathering in the traditional way next year.”

Additional information regarding the Fireworks activities can be followed the evening of the show by listening to local radio stations, KDKK 97.5 FM and Hot Country 92.5 FM. During the Fireworks show music will be choreographed on both stations with a pre-game starting at 9:00 PM.

The club continues to seek contributions to the Park Rapids Rotary Foundation Fireworks Fund, a 501(c)3 so donations are 100 percent tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Donors whose contributions are received by Wednesday, June 24 will be recognized in Rotary’s full-page newspaper ad which will be published July 3.

Checks, made payable to the Park Rapids Rotary Foundation, may be mailed to the Foundation at P.O. Box 704, Park Rapids, MN 56470

DAILY BRIEFING QUESTION ON BARS

At the  Daily Briefing , Governor Walz and Commissioner Malcolm fielded a question about the spread attributed to bars. Here are key portions responses:

Commissioner Malcolm, beginning at 41:45:

So, what I can tell you is that we have had a lot of conversations with the hospitality industry, about urging them to make sure that these messages are clear to the proprietors because I do believe, as the governor said, they're interested not only in being able to open but being able to stay open. We've actually seen some pretty encouraging messages coming out from the associations themselves, really urging proprietors to be sure that the rules are followed because if they aren't, and we see more of this kind of these kinds of clusters that that will absolutely call for stronger mitigation measures...So we're talking about things like making it really clear when, whether it's an environmental health worker or law enforcement going in to talk to a proprietor about the consequences of non-compliance that that list is pretty specific about up to, you know, closure revocation of licenses, etc.

Governor Walz, beginning at 45:15

I am concerned. I do want to echo the licensed Beverage Association and Hospitality Minnesota, sending out strong guidance to their members to get this right, or we're not going to be able to stay open.

Steve Foster, the man behind Grandma Foster’s Bar-B-Que Sauce, named the sauce after his grandmother, Lilley, who lived in Plainview, Nebraska. Steve grew up knowing that Grandma Foster was a fabulous cook which had an impact on him. Because of her influence, he developed a sauce that has an all-natural, robust flavor that young and old appreciate. A sauce Grandma Foster would be proud of.

Grandma Foster’s Bar-B-Que sauce was launched in 1996 and was initially offered in a few select Omaha Hy-Vee grocery stores. As more people tried it, the sauce’s popularity exploded. Restaurants, caterers and competitive barbecue teams across the country became avid fans of the sauce and Grandma Foster’s began to receive a long list of prestigious awards.

The sauce currently has distribution in nine states and recently was signed by Amazon for worldwide direct distribution. Consumers choose Grandma Foster’s not only because of its world-class taste, but because it is fat free, cholesterol free and gluten free. A portion of the profits go to support inner-city youth. Grandma is excited to share her sauce with you and your family.

Grandma Foster also loved to give back to her community and Steve learned this value from her as well. A portion of the sales of Grandma Foster’s goes to invest into inner city youth. As Steve says, “I want to make a difference in the lives of young people.”
