Principal's News
by Sharon Havard

I would like to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to all our Wildcats!  Last week I sent a message about ways we could improve our dismissal/arrival procedures.  Thank you so much for helping us to keep our students safe....Waiting away from the front/back porch if you are walking up, really kept the porch area and "line of visibility" perfect!  We also appreciate you modeling the importance of wearing a mask.  This is something that we all are trying to get used too.

Last Thursday, I heard the sweetest conversation between 2 kinder students as they were walking down the hall.  The conversation went a little like this, "I love school!  I want to live here and never go home!"  This melted my heart to hear and encouraged me to know that we are headed in the right direction!  This school year has certainly had its challenges but as I told students last Friday on September 11th, is that we can learn to rise above difficult challenges and learn from it.  All that we are going through will make us better parents, students, teachers and administrators!  Flexibility is the word of the year....Hang in their Wildcats!

Let's make COLLEGE WEEK wonderful, Wildcats,

Online Meal Application Preferred/Cafeteria Update
by MISD

To enable social distancing and an easier experience for parents/guardians, it is recommended the online free/reduced meal application option be used, which is open at http://www.mckinneyisd.schoollunchapp.com/.  The online application also usually offers a speedier processing time.

Cafeteria Update:
  • Lunch Menu for elementary has one hot option every day and 2 cold options every day: a Sunbutter and jelly sandwich and a sub sandwich option.
  • In order to focus on ensuring all students are fed in a timely manner, no extras, snacks, or a la carte options will be offered for the first two weeks of in-person instruction.  We'll have only full meals available from the serving line.
  • All the trays will be disposable and all the plasticware will be individually wrapped.
  • USDA policy requires that we must continue to accept cash as payment, but will encourage use of the MySchoolBucks online payment system to reduce time spent loading funds into accounts and reduce cash handling.  Our managers and cashiers can easily ring the students up if they are grouped together by classroom teacher. This would eliminate the need for students to touch the same keypad.
