April 28
rev. charlie kast, preaching
alone: loneliness or solitude

"I live in that solitude which is painful in youth but delicious in maturity." Albert Einstein

MUSIC NOTES This Sunday's Service will have a wide variety of music, but all following the theme of aloneness and solitude. For Gathering Music, Glenn Mehrbach will play very spare, personal and contemplative piano music from Erik Satie's Gymnopédie and Gnossienne. During the Service, the vocal trio Luminescence will sing Brian Wilson's ode to his special place of solitude, and Danny Gotham and Maria Fairchild will offer a lovely song about the peace found in nature, with a sing-along chorus. And Danny will perform a folk classic to end charlie's message.

Within These Walls
  • WHAT'S AT THE POP-UP MART THIS SUNDAY? Usually there are fresh eggs from Cathy Cole's hens and sometimes bunches of blooms from each other's yards. Have you some bounty to offer on the "Close-The-Gap" table during Coffee Hour on Sunday? Such a grand idea - Every dollar helps close the gap between estimated costs and projected capital funds for the church's building project!
  • OUTDOOR CONNECTIONS The Raulston Arboretum outing has been rescheduled to Sat., April 27. Suppose there was a place where a half century effort to cultivate the most beautiful plants in the world was on display in garden settings borrowed from the cultures which have cherished them. There is. It's free. Please join us. Meet at the church at 10:00 to carpool. We'll have lunch at the mother church of Mediterranean food in the Triangle, Neomonde. RSVP HERE.
  • FREE LUNCH FOR JUSTICE The Side With Love Ministry invites you to lunch on Sunday April 28, 12:30-2, for a conversation about our work for the coming year. Where do you want to put pen to paper, feet on the street or raise a liberal religious voice for justice this coming year? Bring your ideas and concerns and if you like, some food to share. But mostly your ideas. Contact Ruth Gibson to let us know if you are interested.

  • DEATH CAFE You are invited to a Death Cafe hosted by Member and seminary student Sarah Clark-Farnell as part of her studies on April 30th from 7-8:30pm in the Commons.
