PATH Intl. CTRI Credential Transition Process Pilot is Open

The PATH Intl. CTRI credential transition process pilot is now open to instructors* who wish to renew an existing PATH Intl. Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification to establish the new PATH Intl. CTRI credential.
Note: holding the PATH Intl. CTRI credential is required in order to supervise the teaching hours for PATH Intl. CTRI certification candidates.

This
pilot will be open April 24 - June 30, 2019.
 
* Do NOT complete this process if you are EXCLUSIVELY a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Driving Instructor OR PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL).
 
The transition process entails using the  to:
1. Submit 20 or more hours of continuing education within the past 12 months, including a minimum of:
  • 6 hours of Disability Education (DE)
  • 2 hours Certification Core Requirements (CR)
  • additional general continuing education (CE) hours to accomplish a total of 20 hours
The CEU requirements for the transition process are explained in the credentialing council communication, which can be found   here.

2. Document a passing score on the online test from the comfort of your own home. The open book, twenty-five (25) question, multiple-choice test should take no more than 45 minutes to complete. (Please note that an additional fee will apply if the test must be retaken.) To be enrolled in the test, please contact Karina Jantzen ( [email protected] ) and allow 48 hours for enrollment to be confirmed.
 
4. Attest that you possess current adult and child CPR and basic first-aid certifications.
 
NOTE: The certification maintenance fee is WAIVED during the transition process pilot through June 30, 2019. Standard membership fees must be paid separately to renew PATH Intl. membership.
 
Instructors holding multiple certifications must submit core hours (CR) that reflect ALL certifications they hold. A minimum of two CRs must be submitted for each certification held, but no more than 20 hours are required to be submitted. Therefore, CRs may be submitted in place of CEs.
 
Example: An instructor holds PATH Intl. Registered Therapeutic Riding, Therapeutic Driving and ESMHL certifications. They must submit a minimum:
  • 6 hours of DE
  • 2 hrs of CR related to riding
  • 2 hrs of CR related to ESMHL (in place of general CE)
  • 2 hrs of CR related to driving (in place of general CE)
  • 8 hrs of general continuing education (CE)

Completing the PATH Intl. CTRI Credential Transition Process will result in the following:

PATH Intl. Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructors
  • Will receive an updated title of PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (or CTRI)
  • Establish a two-year certification maintenance (renewal) cycle
  • Can begin accumulating the 120 hours of teaching time required to supervise PATH Intl. CTRI candidate teaching hours
PATH Intl. Advanced Therapeutic Riding Instructors
  • Will receive an expanded title of PATH Intl. Advanced Therapeutic Riding Instructor with PATH Intl. CTRI certification
  • Establish a two-year certification maintenance (renewal) cycle
  • Can begin to supervise PATH Intl. CTRI candidate teaching hours
PATH Intl. Master Therapeutic Riding Instructors
  • Will receive an expanded title of PATH Intl. Master Therapeutic Riding Instructor with PATH Intl. CTRI certification
  • Establish a two-year certification maintenance (renewal) cycle
  • Can begin to supervise PATH Intl. CTRI candidate teaching hours
Once you have submitted your transition form, please allow at least 14 business days for PATH Intl. to complete the processing of your transition request.
