Note: Many of SPAAR's classes provide Minnesota real estate continuing education. Continuing education courses must be attended in their entirety in order to receive credit for the number of approved hours (MN Statute 45.30 Subd.4a).  See full list of classes here .
Tomorrow is the last day to apply for a Board position at SPAAR
Consider serving on the Board of Directors for the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR). The 2019 Nominating Committee is looking to fill three director positions for 2020. The position has a three-year term and directors are asked to make attending all Board meetings a priority.
 
SPAAR is also accepting applications for three officer positions: treasurer, president-elect and president.
 
What are benefits of serving as a director or officer of SPAAR?
 
As a Board Member you'll have:
  • Opportunities to both learn from and teach others
  • Direct involvement in decisions that impact the association
  • A broader professional network of members, the community and civic leaders
  • New experiences that develop professional and personal skills
  • Social opportunities that often lead to lasting friendships
All candidates must have been a member of the association for one year prior to the date of the nomination and must be a REALTOR® member in good standing with no ethics violations within the past year. Complete the application form here no later than Friday, June 14, 2019.

Joint Government Affairs meeting and hot topics drew a crowd

Nearly 50 attendees took part in the SPAAR-hosted joint meeting on June 12 between Saint Paul and Minneapolis' Government Affairs Committees to discuss hot button issues in the metro area. The committees heard a presentation from the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association, and had a lively discussion about rental screening procedures as well as the Associations' positions on the metro transportation policy and regional growth.

This collaboration is an exciting way to be sure that our Associations are speaking with one voice to represent REALTORS® and protect the housing market.

Did you know SPAAR staff are willing to present at your office? Whether it's real estate issues, advocacy, education or news about upcoming events, remember that SPAAR staff and available to speak at your upcoming meeting (and they enjoy it)!

SPAAR Squad is here to help! Our staff members are available to attend meetings and speak about a variety of relevant topics. SPAAR staff will also provide onsite training (some with free CE) for groups of 25 or more.
Listing Strategies for the Residential Specialist
The course, Listing Strategies for the Residential Specialist, will provide agents an actual listing presentation to help them understand the key steps in this process and create a system for success. Led by Jackie Leavenworth, CRS, the course will cover conducting an effective listing presentation; seller guidance, counseling, needs and motivations; pricing a home to sell; marketing plans; and closing techniques.

The course takes place July 10 and 11 from 9am to 6pm at SPAAR's 325 Roselawn Avenue East location. Cost is $250 for members; $300 for non-members. Register here to attend.

Toastmasters is a great way to improve your speaking skills, gain leadership experience, learn how to efficiently run a meeting from start to finish and network with others in the industry.
