Zovio Announces HQ Relocation to Chandler 

Earlier this month, Zovio's CEO,  Andrew Clark, announced that the company is relocating its headquarters to Chandler. The company has leased 130,000 square feet in the Airpark Area. The energy-efficient, open-concept work space has been designed to support Zovio's unique culture and commitment to innovation and growth. Zovio, formerly named Bridgepoint Education, partners with higher education institutions to deliver innovative, personalized solutions and is redefining education technology.

"We decided to move our headquarters to Arizona and the greater Phoenix area because it enables us to tap into local talent, enjoy a favorable business environment, and provide a more reasonable cost of living for our transferring employees with opportunities for transferring spouses to find employment," said Clark. "Our team looks forward to working with local leaders as we move our headquarters and bring jobs to Chandler."

Chandler Ranked 2019's Best Place in the United States to Become Wealthy 

Chandler has been named 2019's Best Place to Become Wealthy in a recent study from personal finance company SmartAsset. T he 100 largest U.S. cities were compared across seven job- and housing-related metrics.  Chandler scored among the top 20 cities for the rate of high-wage jobs, five-year earnings growth, and housing costs as a percentage of household income. 


Export Explore Program Seeks Businesses Looking to Grow Their Export Potential



Chandler businesses are invited to apply for the Metro Phoenix Export Alliance's Export Explore Program. Businesses will learn how to grow their sales abroad by attending a series of workshops on May 17, May 24, and May 31. The program concludes with a pitch competition on June 7, through which participating businesses can receive additional resources by elaborating on their export goals. City Economic Development Staff Presents on Autonomous Vehicle Activity in Chandler



Chandler has become a hotbed for the autonomous vehicle (AV) industry. Over the past few years, the City has continued to receive global media attention as a development site and proving ground for the latest AV tech . Wired, CNBC, The Verge, and Forbes are just some of the media outlets that have featured the AV innovations happening in Chandler. 

This month, James Smith, Economic Development Innovation Manager, has had a couple of opportunities to discuss AV activities in Chandler. First, James gave a presentation to the Chandler City Council during a Work Session Meeting on Apr. 11. The following week, he participated in a panel discussion at the annual Arizona Conference on Roads & Streets. The session focused on how agencies in Arizona are preparing for AV testing and pilot programs on their roadways.
