Scholarship Auction
It is the goal of MACE to ensure access to industry-specific professional development opportunities for everyone. Providing 12 scholarships each year to the annual conference allows new leadership to learn from their peers across the region. These scholarships are funded by your donations and the scholarship auction. The scholarship auction will be held at the annual conference, on May 1, 6:00 pm. Please be certain to bring along any auction items you would like to donate. We ask that you please fill out the form in advance.

Business groups had to play defense at times during this year’s legislative session. Dave Owen, President of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says some gun related issues could have created problems for their members
Second lawsuit challenging ban on out-of-state ballot question contributions

Several organizations are attempting to overturn a ban on out-of-state contributions to South Dakota ballot question committees...The ban would also impact South Dakota Chamber of Commerce members who have out-of-state headquarters by preventing them from contributing to ballot question campaigns even if it directly affects their business, according to the lawsuit.

Institute

Institute for Organization Management (Institute) is the premier continuing education experience for chamber professionals. Since 1921, the Institute program has educated and empowered chamber executives with the knowledge and skills they need to be leaders in their organizations and industry.

The Institute curriculum is comprised of four week-long sessions. Each session is five days and is offered at five locations across the country annually. With courses on topics such as advocacy, media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, Institute ultimately educates participants on all facets of running an association. The city of Maquoketa and local groups have established a new program to encourage the renovation of upper story apartments, as part of updates to its downtown incentive initiative. The city, Maquoketa Area Chamber of Commerce and Jackson County Economic Alliance made the announcement Monday. 
City, hospital officials celebrate groundbreaking of new rehabilitation hospital

Local leaders and hospital officials celebrated the groundbreaking of a new 40-bed rehabilitation hospital in Coralville, which will become the second of its kind in the state..."A facility such as this is desperately needed," said Kim Casko, executive director of the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce. "Speaking from a business perspective, the economic impact of this facility is going to be tremendous."

Eaton Corp. 'family' recognized with Freedom Award for business for its community service

Business Accelerator Fund proposed to spin off from MAGIC Fund

Minot and area businesses would gain access to a new loan fund for start-ups and expansions under a proposal that goes to the MAGIC Fund Screening Committee Friday...The person would work under Visit Minot, in cooperation with Minot Area Chamber of Commerce and Minot Area Development Corp.
